Why Are PJ Fans Haters?

There's lots of bickering and banter just like in any other aspect of life. I don't often post in MT, but I enjoy reading all the stuff in here, makes me think.
Don't take it to heart, there's more lovers than haters on the site.<a href="http://s952.photobucket.com/albums/ae8/catkinson_2009/?action=view¤t=domo.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i952.photobucket.com/albums/ae8/catkinson_2009/domo.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>0 -
Meh ... I wouldn't say haters. I do wish that I could somehow surrender the goal of changing people's minds when posting on here, though. Some people's emotional reasoning is basically impervious to logic or counterexamples, which is something I should have learned ages ago ... Oh well.0

Wow. I haven't looked at MT in a few years, but used to read and post daily. It seemed that when I first started posting I saw quite a bit of rudeness and lack of acceptance. I can remember a lot of crap about who makes the most money, has a prestigious job, etc. Then that stopped, I think it took people getting banned or suspended and people just admitting who they really are, like lower income such as me. Things still could get heated, but for the right reasons instead of foolishness. So, I am surprised to read this post.
I am hoping its not that bad.Save room for dessert!0 -

I think you're being a bit dramatic here...so someone doesn't agree with someone else...big deal...it's not hating, it's discussion...
I think some take things personally...
I know, after being banned twice, that I needed to try and think of debate class at school and address things here like that. There were people here who knew how to get under my skin and would do so every chance they got. I was stupid enough to play right into it. Its a web site!!!! Its not worth a coronary!!!! LOL!
I hope things are like they use to be.Save room for dessert!0 -
To some degree I see people trashing each other, but I do think it's a two way street.
For example, people these days just seem poised to be offended by any statement to which they disagree.
Also, there's a big difference between saying "that's stupid" and "YOU are stupid". Often, people take criticism of an action as criticism of them as a person.
I remember a thread not too long ago where someone made a statement about that it was a good idea to know the expense of giving birth to a child before getting pregnant. To me, that's good, sound advice, but some people seemed genuinely offended by it.The only people we should try to get even with...
...are those who've helped us.

I feel that's what started this thread... the OP was making some wild accusations in another thread and when people asked for some proof and criticized the intellectual dishonesty of passing off internet chain e-mails as solid fact research, they didn't take it so well. I've no doubt the OP has the best of intentions, but saying someone's stances lack merit or support in fact does not mean one is saying they themselves are an idiot or whatever.0 -

aerial wrote:Calling people morons or idiot's or much worse, is personal.... there are those that feel there opinions deem them more intelligent than someone elses opinion, which results in VERY nasty name calling. How intelligent is that? Is it personal or are they looking for attention?
Well... okay. i'll play fair.
What should I call a person who makes a moronic comment... or an idiotic statement? I ususally try to phrase it like, "Only an idiot would believe that there are 'Death Panels' written into a House Bill that requires 50% of 435 Representatives to pass"... or "It is a moronic statement to say President Obama is a Fascist, Socialist Communist Nazi" because the person is either a moron or an idiot and wouldn't understand it was an insult.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! I've noticed that all over the internet, people will post their Big Bag O' BS and when called out on it, they burst into tears and ask why people are "haters."
What they mean is "Why are people expecting me to have facts and stuff? That's so mEEEAAAANN."0 -

Except that's not what was said. The actual statement read "If you didn't know how much a child would cost you shouldn't have had one". Big difference in that statement and your careful re-phrasing of it.
The person who made the comment wasn't giving advice, he was just continuing in the same vein of abusing and provoking everyone on the board. It was a low, shitty, provocative comment, and he had no good intentions in making it.0 -

If that is true, it is the closing argument for my belief that love is an inherently masochistic endeavor0 -

idk how this subject came to this....but i always thought men could smell when women ovulate, and then are attracted. just throwing that out there in this 'hater' discussion....
