Enough with the singing!

Could we try to tone it down with the singing already? Some songs are made to sing along (Better Man, Alive, etc). But I go to the shows to hear the band and Eddie sing, not a couple thousand Pearl Jam freaks who think they have to show off the fact that they know every word to every song.

I should have known I'd get this reaction. You know, some people are turned off by PJ fans because they are so obsessed!

Anyway, I've been going to concerts for nearly 30 years. I consider Pearl Jam my favorite band and they are one of the best I've seen. But I've seen a lot of other great concerts where the fans were awesome and sang along when you'd expect them to, but didn't yell every lyric as loud as they could through the whole show. but to each his own....

seriously, dude, get over yourself. the concert is for everyone to enjoy, and if you want a crowd that sits on their hands and doesn't join in, go to a Celine Dion show.

Sure, a bunch of people screaming at the top of their lungs could be annoying, as you'd prefer to hear the band, but I don't think the singing has anything to do with people trying to show off. People get lost in the moment. They sing along. It's a concert; it happens.

    :wtf:

Are you for real? It's a rock concert. Many of the fans call PJ their favorite band, and can relate to and love the lyrics...I'm sorry, but sing away fans!!!

it's not showing off, it's loving the music so much that you can't help but sing your heart out to the songs you love.

Sounds like you should just stick to listening to the albums.

    Great first post.

I've been a part of some loud crowds and the only songs it really has an effect on are the ones like the op mentioned. If you are hearing the crowd that much, you need to listen more to the band.

But we'll all quit singin for you.

Yeah, people sing the songs to show off. Like the girl sitting behind you is gonna want to have sex with you because you know every word to Breakerfall.

Uh, wasn't there some complaining recently about people who didn't know all the lyrics going to shows and NOT singing? I'm so confused now. :?

Me personally I am a "lyric" oriented person... I happen to know every word to every song b/c I make it a point to learn them. If I'm plunkin down $167 bucks to walk in the front door u can bet your sweet ass I'm singin my lungs out....
