My friend was going to see Eddie last night. Since he was in Vegas, I gave him 5 Grand to gamble with. I told him I wanted it all to go on Black. Bastard! PhillyCrownOfThorns-11-2-12
Highlight of the night for me: At some point in the show Ed mentions that his guitar picks go for "an arm and a leg on eBay" and one of the wounded soldiers in the audience pulls off his prosthetic leg and holds it up as an offer. The band laughs, takes the leg and proceeds to fill it up with all sorts of picks, drumsticks, etc. for the guy. After the show it showed him getting one of Mike's guitars (a Les Paul I think) signed by the entire band. Reason #10892 that I love this band.
Overall it was a wonderful Storytellers type experience. Unfortunately, I will guess most of Ed's ramblings won't make it on air.

Loved your review... yeah, too bad his ramblings would unlikely make it to PBS... unless HE felt comfortable sharing it with the world.... it's up to the band which parts of the show will be shown.
We'll find out on Nov. 21st.

Pearl Jam will air officially on Nov 21 nationwide. Also, Ed made a surprise set change at intro by playing "walking the cow". And "Crazy Mary" rocked the final encore and neither song was on set list.
As a former KLRU employee and a guy who has seen many tapings over the years I'd have to say that it was by far the coolest one of all of them.
And @PearlJam walks off the #acltv. Will they be back? about 14 hours ago from web
Just got word they're coming back to do Crazy Mary #acltv #pearljam about 14 hours ago from web
Eddie just said that he can't wait to come back and do #acltv again. How about next week? about 14 hours ago from web
Boom's killing it on the Hammond B3 #acltv #pearljam about 13 hours ago from web
Mike McCready ending @PearlJam's set on #acltv with the national anthem a la Jimi Hendrix. Wounded Warriors on their feet, hands on hearts. about 13 hours ago from web
I think that pretty much confirms it.... she was there at the show.
Sorry you missed it, but at least you got most of the show....
Have a great time tonight at ACL w/PJ!

can someone please explain to me what the hell this is and what relevance it has to tonight's show. i am so lost.
There is the Austin City Limits Festival which Pearl Jam plays on Sunday.
There is also the Austin City Limits Television show (i.e. Jools Holland type show) which Pearl Jam played Saturday. This will air on PBS in November. The exact date escapes me.
thank you. i understand now. so in other words, it's like what they did with letterman following the avocado release. they did that little show in his theater. and though it wasn't aired, it was the same sort of idea. gotcha

I'm confused. Have you people never heard of Austin City Limits (the show) before? It's only been airing on PBS since the invention of television.
SlightofJeff....how could we people who DON'T live in Texas (or in my case, the country) possibly know what airs on PBS in Austin?!?!?! Every city has their own PBS station so it is QUITE conceivable for us to have never heard about this show in the 35 years it has aired.
That said, sounds like a great night and I LOVE what they did for the Army Vet
"Rock and roll is something that can't be quantified, sometimes it's not even something you hear, but FEEL!" - Bob Lefsetz
Crazy Mary was played. They came back out after the lights went up. Ed told a story about how Boom and his dad used to watch that show and Boom told his dad that one day he would play that show. Boom got really emotional and teared up and then they just killed Crazy Mary. It was awesome.

It's understandable for those outside the US for sure. Like many shows that air on PBS here in the states, it airs all over the country, though, not just in Austin. The times might be different, but I think it generally comes on Saturday nights (midnight here) and it broadcasts in HD. Ben Harper and the Relentless 7 are on next Saturday.

If only that guy with the missing leg in Toronto back in August '08 was @ the Ed show now ...

Austin City Limits is and always has been played nation wide on PBS for like 30 years. Often the tapings coincide with the festival since they are all there in Austin. DMB, Pearl Jam, Ben Harper are part of this season. The Pearl Jam taping was too big to hold only in the studio so it was simulcast somewhere on the UT campus.

Check local PBS listings for your area for replay. DMB is this week I believe, set your DVR to record the season I suggest.

they finally get on this show and THAT'S the setlist? fucking weak. put wilco back on.
I am thinking you were looking for the 'travel through PJ history' version, which I sort of get. But I think the show has become more based on the promotion of the new releases (DMB and Ben are both working off the new albums quite a bit) so its not like a greatest hits night. Although, I have a hard time understanding Army Reserves appeal, but I know there is something about a message there....that song has always grated on me (sorry).

The show was "Tony the Tiger GGGgggrrrrreat"... anyone else think that Ed was super nervous at the beginning?
Don't want to reiterate what others have said... DTE was superb and Johnny Guitar was super energized. Mike was right in front of the vets while shredding the Star Spangled Banner.
The 6th floor smelled of bar-b-que 'cause the band was having a cook out before the show... guess they didn't want to cook in the rain... HA!
Note-ables in the crowd...
Lance Armstrong (as mentioned in a previous post)
Meg Ryan
Luke Wilson (who left after 5-6 songs)

Unfortunately KCET, the PBS station in SoCal stopped airing ACL 7 or 8 years ago. That was just shortly after I found out about the show so I was pretty bummed then. We'll have to look around to see if there is some way to watch it online.

SBHEAD, if you have DirecTV, you can still get it. I live in SoCal and I was able to TiVo the Foo Fighters from last year. I think I found it in the 50s on DirecTV. I dont think it was KCET but it was PBS from somewhere.

I believe they played Army Reserve due to all the Injured Veterans they had in attendance. Good song in my opinion.
Luke Wilson left after 5 songs? moron! i would have taken his ticket. the simulcast was cool too though. i really hope they release the entire thing on dvd with all the talking and stories. i'm guessing what will air will be mostly new stuff, better man and porch.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.
