A day on Mercury is about 176 24-hour days. A day on Neptune is about 16 Hours.
thanks... tis why i mentioned it.
as long as 176 earth days?? is that right?? seems a bit too much. *shrugs*
Well it rotates completely around its axis in 58 days but the definition of a day has to do with that rotation plus the distance the plante travelled around the sun in one rotation.
okey doke thanks professor.

this could be the day

i just need to say
which is 750,000,000 years ....give or take a few million days.....hehehehehehehe
Hehe -- do god days have to do with proximately to the sun and the rotational speed of the planet? Maybe the earth orbited the sun and spun very very slowly 10000 years ago and god patted himself on the back for creating the world and only working 1 day of OT. I can't even answer all my emails that will be waiting for me tomorrow in 6 days.

Lol -- I have to use some information that I "learned" in my physics classes in university -- I paid enough for it. I know the concept but I gotta admit that I had to google the numbers though.
1/12/1879, 4/8/1156, 2/6/1977, who gives a shit, ...
there are many truths. each of us must find our own.
...
Which explains my reasoning.
There is Absolute Truth. Religion's truths are relative truths, as they pertain to human belief and faith. When someone tells me the 'Truth' of their religion... it is relative to them... their beliefs that do not apply to me.
I think the only truths that are know to us are things we find in math... 1+1=2. There is no arguement against that (unless you play those mathematical games that use illusion by joining two or more seperate equations).
My truth is this... I only know that I will die. So will my cats and you and Eddie Vedder and every living creature. All I can do with that is make with my life what I can. If someone believes I will not make it to Heaven because I do not prescribe to the doctrine of their religion... that's on them, not me. I know I only have one shot, with absolute certainty, at this existance. Afterlife is a big guess... a hope... a faith. Not the truth.
And I also know that I do not know... and that everyone else does not know, either.
I believe in God... just not the judgemental God that the Bible describes. I believe in the teachings of Jesus... not the Church that was created by Man, in His name. Which is why I believe in forgiveness and tolerance and forsake War and the Death Penalty. Jesus doesn't need to save me... if anything, He needs to save the kid in Africa that was born with the HIV or the kid born into poverty in Los Angeles.

Hail, Hail!!!
Just a couple of questions(which I am sure you have heard before)....simple questions....
Do you believe in the Bible??
Do you believe in the whole "God created the heavens and earth in 7 days"????
Do you believe in the whole "Adam and Eve" thing????
Do you believe in the whole "Moses" thing???
Noahs Ark really happened????
Do you believe God created us in his own image??????
How the fuck do you explain one celled animals, insects, and then the fucking dinosaurs that roamed the earth for gazillions of years????
How the fuck can the Earth be 4.5 billion years old?? You are telling me GOD created the Earth and the one celled animals first.....Then waited billions of years before he created man?????
I thought he did it all in 6 days....then smoked a joint and watched some football on the 7th day????
Let's just say for the sake of my argument that there really is an all-powerful, all-knowing God. Do you think that humans, who certainly aren't all powerful, but more importantly probably have the collective knowledge of a speck of dust compared to God's knowledge of the entire universe, would be able to comprehend and logically explain all things related to God?
The only people we should try to get even with...
...are those who've helped us.
Right 'round the corner could be bigger than ourselves.
I think the only truths that are know to us are things we find in math... 1+1=2. There is no arguement against that
But the concept of math is truly a human invention. You only know it to be true because you believe it to be true. Do we really have any proof outside of the "rules of math" that humans invented that it is actually true?

go into a church and ask them how Adam and Eve's children managed to have children
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

You are right, us humans are not the sharpest tool in the shed.
Which is why we created GOD, in our own image.
Take me piece by piece..... Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....
If you've never read the Bible before and are curious about it, it might be best to start with one of the New Testament Gospels, such as Mark or Luke. Reading the whole thing all the way through can be daunting. Remember that it's a collection of 66 separate books.
Also, the Cain/Abel question...the Bible says Adam and Eve had other kids in addition to Cain, Abel and Seth. My guess is that they married each other. The brothers married their sisters. Gross, but that's how it was back then.

...
Yet... we accept the Bible's explanation?
I believe Man created God in Man's image... which explains how God got all of those human character traits.
Maybe, God is life... life evolved to Man who came up with these questions... that were answered by other men.
I don't know... I KNOW I don't know and I'm guessing I never will. Just like every other human.

Nope. Math exists in the realm of reality.
You have an orange. I give you an orange. You now have two oranges. There is no arguement (unless you throw in something that creates an illusion, such as saying, "But, i ate my orange, now I only have one".)
And math also accounts for nulls. Sometimes, the answer is 'nothing'.

well of course we find it incomprehensible. it defies all logic and makes no sense at all. a belief on God requires no logic... all that is required is a faith beyond all reason. and thats its greatest loop hole.

I believe in God but I do believe that some of the bible must be taken with a grain of salt, there are examples of people doing their best to explain things they didn't understand.
Also, not every single believer in the world views the world in black and white. Non-believers are just as bad believers are when it comes to hearing each other out sometimes. There is a grey area for some, especially around the topic of evolution.
peace out & god bless

I believe the actual authors of the books of the Bible had good intentions. The part that causes the greatest doubt in my mind are the ones who decided which books stay and which ones go. I have grave doubts about the Church... because the Church is power... run by men. Sort of like the way I have grave doubts about Government. Both claim to be 'By the people, For the people', but both have proven time and again that not to be true.
And as you say, rarely is anything black or white... it's usually every color between the two.
