As I said, for no other reason than to read and understand or try to understand the passages of the bible seems a pretty useful thing to do. The bible, is so often quoted and refered to in everyday speech and in everyday culture.

And as I said, the stuff I have heard about, just in living 25 years on this earth, as a human being in a world that views religion so utterly essential, I think I owe it to myself to just check it out, and that the stuff/stories I have heard people talk about and reference sound really interesting. Adam and Eve and all that.

I already come into reading the bible, as a radical activist, and am fully aware of the many many harmful things religion and the Bible specifically has wrought. I talked about before how back in the day, white racists used the bible and its passages to reaffirm their dominance over blacks, and I assume probably would read some Bible passages while lynching blacks or gathering for a KKK gathering.

All I want to do, is check it out, see what the fuss is about. Maybe I am wrong. Maybe I will hate it, maybe I will find it boring as all get out, but i am curious...

Which is exactly what I said... read it as literature, not as Holy Text.
People will read from it what they want to hear. I don't blame the Bible for being what it is and what people have made it out to be... I see the fault of Man using God's divinity to sanction their human imperfections and pointing to the Bible as guidence.

The thing I cannot figure... Adam and Eve. They had two sons... Abel and Cain. Three males... still one female. To populate the planet... there has to have been incest. We are all the inbred results of incest?
No wonder we think we are foriegn policy experts on Russian diplomacy if we can see the Russian coastline from our kitchen window.

Allah had some daughters and Abel was totally going to call them back but the whole Cain thing put a cramp in it ... the wives things were made up so that Eve didn't know what sluts her sons were.

Okay. But, doesn't that put the kibosh on the whole 'Creationism' thing? When did God create Allah and why isn't it mentioned in the Bible?

I know... it's a character flaw of mine.
It's just that so much is made of the Bible... people have told me it is the 'Truth'. If it is the truth... it must not be the Whole Truth because no mention is made of these 'other' women. Unless they are like 'The Others' on 'LOST'.

I'm pretty sure that God only created white people. And only good-looking white people for that matter. Allah and his wives were black and therefore were spawned by the devil himself. Oh ya -- and god made sure that the kids that Allah's daughters had were white as well (oh and not related). That cover it?

Well it rotates completely around its axis in 58 days but the definition of a day has to do with that rotation plus the distance the plante travelled around the sun in one rotation.
