"ITEM: The New York City subway system suffered an atrocious commute today, with some trains being inexplicably stranded in stations for long periods of time."
THAT shit is everyday. There was some rain yesterday though so that explains why it was extra bad.
People on The Porch bitching about free tickets to an event makes me cranky.
to an event that wants to end poverty and other issues none the less...if it makes you that upset just don't go...

+3. No one seems to be giving the important causes that Global Citizen tries to promote a second thought. It's kind of gross.
Agreed. "I didn't even make the phone call" was one of my favorites. To write the e-mail I need to read so that I know what the issue is about. My guess is that some people just ran their hand over the keyboard until they hit the 500 character limit. Sad.
i try to avoid the porch as much as possible, now I have to go over there to see what everybody is bitching about...
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.
If it wasn't so damn expensive to fly to NYC, I would consider entering...even though I have like 3 followers on Twitter.

Oh man, if I had the money to fly to NYC I'd be there in a heartbeat (I actually already have a bunch of Global Citizen points that I'll probably never use - *GASP* I actually did it because I thought it was a good cause). NYC Is my favorite place in the world!! I don't even need PJ to be there. If I had the money I'd just go for no reason!
Just FYI, Global Citizen isn't meant to only be a place you go to earn points and tweet shit. I think a big part of the point is for it to engage YOU (not you you, RKCNDY, lol). It is meant to get the user engaged, more aware of the issues, more knowledgeable about why they're issues about about what is and can be done about them. It's an educational program that hopes to kind of get the users' blood pumping int he hopes that society will become more proactive as generations grow. It is more valuable and thought out than just 'tweeting a cause'. It's trying to change people's thinking long term. I'm kind of a fan.

oh, I kinda figured that...I just skimmed over the first "journey", and it was "tweet this" and "write to your congressperson" "sign this petition", a little um, how do I say it? I don't think doing that stuff really gets people to "think" about what GC is all about, I was expecting more of, "volunteer at such and such place", ya know? I was going to ask about Gucci's production facilities (I kind of question most stupid expensive brand name products)

It looks like that at first glance because you're probably looking at how to make points. But there is a pot to read and watch there. But the thing about it is thst it's an attempt to engage people. Again, if someone is just going and watching for points to be made, thst's not engagement.
