i will say mamasan's car isn't as bad as my brother and his gf's car. i was scared riding in it...found out half way thru the trip, it needed wheel bearings. :? the one door panel was missing and clutter/junk everywhere. :fp:
cars are not garbage cans/storage lockers people :fp:
you would've hated my first car...not only did i use it as, as you say a garbage can, i drove it into the ground...yeah, i guess checking the oil and shit is important but when i got the new engine i took great care of it! ah, i miss the lude
Something so freeing about having a shitty car...maybe because you're not so worried about bad shit happening to it?

especially in high school/college...i hate seeing kids get brand new cars as their first car...what a waste
and after the engine blew i drove around for a about a week...the trail of smoke was awesome! :P
my motorcycle did that at the end. i changed the oil, but things eventally wore out and it was leaking oil and burning. kind of sucked actually. always smelled a little like burt oil after.
i blew a coolant hose on my last on the highway. had to slow for traffic...then hammered it...big smoke bomb in the rear view mirrow

Honda Civic. Don't judge me...I had aspirations of racing once upon a time
What year and model...GX, LX, EX, etc.? SOme motors are interference motors and some aren't. Makes a difference.
2002 EX...forgot you were a car guy
Yeah...if the techs are recommending to change it (which I don't know you're miles) but time will break down that rubber just as bad change it. If that fucker snaps the pistons in your motor WILL hit your valves and that motor is fucked. Google interference vs. non-interference motors if you want a full explanation.
Also, have them change the water pump if you choose to do your timing belt. You will pay no extra for labor (because all of the parts to get to the water pump are already out) and the pump is only 50-60 bucks but it's JUST as important as the timing belt.
Being the cars 10 years old...I would highly suggest you do this if you want to drive the car into the ground.

I've got about 130,000 miles and they actually already did the water pump...didn't do the timing belt at the same time because things were a little tight. Thanks for all the advice!
