It's starting to rain I think....and I left the car windows open :fp:
according to 81, does it really matter? :P
might be a good thing :?
i will say mamasan's car isn't as bad as my brother and his gf's car. i was scared riding in it...found out half way thru the trip, it needed wheel bearings. :? the one door panel was missing and clutter/junk everywhere. :fp:
cars are not garbage cans/storage lockers people :fp:

the real question is, why do auto companies use belts instead of chains. :fp:
Belts were used for two reasons...built in service work for the dealerships and the belts are significantly quieter. Now with improved sound insulation technolgy the second point is mute.

I am, however, in dire need of a timing belt
replace the timing belt!
I had the head gasket blow once...and since they had to take the timing belt off to get to the gasket, I had them change that too...fuck that cost a pretty penny! (i drive a civic too...and I love it)
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

and now only use one belt for the whole engine...so if it breaks the whole car (or in this case, my dad's f-250) can run at all...idiots
are you talking serpantine belt? those don't bother me. easy quick fix. timing belts....was just a bad idea all around. anytime you have to crack the motor open for regular maintenance, it's a bad idea.

you would've hated my first car...not only did i use it as, as you say a garbage can, i drove it into the ground...yeah, i guess checking the oil and shit is important but when i got the new engine i took great care of it! ah, i miss the lude

I'm going to...I actually just took it in for a bunch of other work to a place that I trust and told them that I was worried about the timing belt. They said that it should get changed soon but that it really wasn't imperative as of yet. So probably in the next few weeks. Luckily I work less than a mile from where I live, so don't really do too much driving with it.
Yes, I love my little Honda!!! Definitely a Honda/Acura person for life now

this is a diesel, extra cab extended long bed f-250...that belt controls everything including the power steering :fp: try getting that monster out of the way of traffic without power steering

chains are not that loud.
now i do hear timing gears are loud.....
I wouldn't say loud...but in the competitive world of automotives where every car magazine measures dB levels for every car sold...they are significantly louder.

Haha no it really probably doesn't. She's a shitbox but I love her!

seriously, get that shit done if it needs it. if you really want to keep driving it, you don't want a blown motor.
Depends. What make and model is it.

I'm on it dad!! Honda Civic. Don't judge me...I had aspirations of racing once upon a time
I agree here. I had mine blow out on me and cracked my whole damn engine! Now that's a price you do not want to see to replace your engine.
catch you on the flip side

What year and model...GX, LX, EX, etc.? SOme motors are interference motors and some aren't. Makes a difference.

Let's just say when I bought the damn thing I was dating someone that was a little too obsessed with Fast & Furious :fp: :fp: :fp:

never let your poor dating habits impact your car purchases, not that there is anything wrong with a civic...unless you rice it out.
