More journalists should ask questions like this to talking heads and politicians. What they really MEAN when it comes down to it, beyond yelling the same talking points unexplained all the time. You have a talking point, you should be able to elaborate a little on it. Otherwise, just shut up.

White culture is not allowed to be discussed. That is why he did not fall into the trap. Anything he may have said would be spined into he being a racist. Just like not answering you still call him a racist.

I hear that point of view all the time from my family and (some) friends. I guess I understand it somewhat.
In the US most white people don't really know their ancestry or if they do it is "german, swedish, irish, french, italian, and greek" descent. So they don't really have a sense of "culture" for any of those because they don't really have a dominant ancestry from any certain place. So, what sense of "culture" should a white American have? None? Surely not... so then what could that culture be called? I don't know the answer to that question... but I think that *MIGHT* be the point Glenn Beck is trying to make. You are right about white ancestry. We know many Hispanics, so called African Americans, or any other race have mixed blood also. Example Obama he is not a black man...... but he is a mix of black and white..Why does he choose to call himself a black man? could it be the advantages it will or has lent to him... He could have been such a good role model to show how we are all mixed. (most all) and to show we should not judge people by there skin color....or claim because we are black. Hispanic or any other color than white we deserve more rights than anyone else. But people use the race card any chance they get because it does give them advantages over whites.
Personally I stopped filling out my race on forms years ago. I think it should be removed from all forms!
So even if whites tried to claim a culture and it had the word white in it these people would be called racist. Why don't they use the term "european culture" then, or since that might include hispanics, "Northern European culture"? That would be more correct and appropriate.
There isn't a "white" culture in America, there are several. Which is why it is hard to describe what "white" in this context really means. Except that it used to mean "master" a few decades ago.
I dont see this about not falling into a trap. He was given a flat out opportunity to describe what he thought white culture was. Since he doesn't say anything, he comes off like an ass, and it seems that he knows he will get serious heat for it. He's much more comfortable slinging that word into speeches here and there to appeal to certain segments of the population. If that was not the case, then he has no clue what he blabbering about, so I again set the choices here that he is either kindof racist or at the very least pandering to those that are, or, he is an idiot who should shut up, since he obviously has no clue.
Refusal to define what one means should always be viewed with suspicion, and always be questioned by any reasonable awake journalist. If a politician says: "In want to give poor families a huge tax break!", and later refuses to define what is considered a "poor family", well.... Than he's full of crap. Quite simple.

whites have been in the majority for all of american history, so most history is writen from the perspective of a "white" man. most american history that you hear about in school is from a "white" perpective relating to "white people". (on a side note, IMO this is why zinn's people's history of the united states is so great)...up unti well after the civil war blacks were still 3/5 of a person and until 60 years later no women were allowed to vote. they had no power to influence anything, especially history. most times miss america has been white, or not of african descent, most college loans have gone to white kids because many african americans have not had the opportunity to go to college, hence the united negro college fund. these are simply giving the african americans the opportunites they would not have in a country run by a white majority. since the majority would not help them they had to help themselves. if you would ever take a sociology class you might understand that.

Speaking as a white male, I don't really feel like I'm hurting these days at the expense of those damn minorities. I don't often find myself pining for the life of a young black man in urban Cleveland just so I can get those great entitlements they have.0 -
