With Fed scrawled on his chest in Kentucky woods.....May turn out to be suicide, but I doubt it. So let me be first to say "Thank You Glenn Beck and Fox" :(

MANCHESTER, Ky. -- A U.S. Census worker found hanged from a tree near a Kentucky cemetery had the word "fed" scrawled on his chest, a law enforcement official said Wednesday, and the FBI is investigating whether he was a victim of anti-government sentiment.

The law enforcement official, who was not authorized to discuss the case and requested anonymity, did not say what type of instrument was used to write the word on the chest of Bill Sparkman, a 51-year-old part-time Census field worker and teacher. He was found Sept. 12 in a remote patch of the Daniel Boone National Forest in rural southeast Kentucky.

how sad. i hope they figure out what happened and bring those responsible to justice. i doubt very seriously it was a suicide, unless the guy scrawled "fed" onto his own chest. i will be interested to see what the autopsy says as relating to other possible injuries to the man's body.

  • that's awful. let's hope the truth comes out, whatever happened to him.
  • Wow... a census worker??? All murderers are obviously totally irrational, but seriously... :?
Everything not forbidden is compulsory and eveything not compulsory is forbidden. You are free... free to do what the government says you can do.
  • Why is there so much evil in this world?

I suspect that as health care reform never comes, there are going to be more and more sociopaths out there due to having untreated mental illness.

How sad for that man and his family. RIP.

what other motive would there be to murder a man that works for the government and scrawl "fed" on his chest? what kind of message is the "fed" thing trying to send? sounds like some anti-government nut to me. i am pretty sure that the hatred spewed by a certain network and the anti government movement that it has influenced may have riled someone up enough to commit murder. if he was murdered i do not see that theory being too much of a stretch at all. we are lacking any facts other than what was originally posted though so we don't know anything yet.

yes, but fox news is succeeding at making anti-government sentiment socially acceptable, which is a very dangerous thing. and by the way i have a firm grip on reality my friend.

On the other hand, you could look at any institution that is pro-government as an equally, if not MORE dangerous entity. I'd rather all of our press be free and objective, but if I had to err on the side of media influencing our trust over the ultimate authority that is our government, I'd rather they push for mis-trust of them, even anti-government over a super-pro statist agenda. After all, the latter breeds extreme nationalism, which ultimately leads to war, usurping private property and individual rights.

Fox have been RAH RAH RAH statists in our not so distant past too. They are not to be trusted, nor are any of the other mainstream media outlets if you ask me. We need to stop settling for the "lesser of 2 evils" and demand some real press already.

There are a lot of people with anger toward the government for reasons that have nothing to do with whether the government decides to screw up health insurance or not.

To be honest, I'm not a big fan of the census and the questions they ask. Of course, killing someone over it would never, ever cross my mind.

Not solely. ;) Mostly directed at the wacko that would do something like this. But sure, some aimed at people believing FOX news has the power to drive people to kill Federal employees. Thats' the same thinking that Tipper Gore used to put labels on albums...same thinking that gets video games and music blamed for kids doing sick things...
