Alright most of us have had the listen and our first impressions...So based on the first few listens of the record rank the tracks, favorite to least....(Hard i KNOW!) We've got the pleasure of hearing a great album, and I wanna see where everyone stands on the overall outlook of it...I'll go first!

1. Got Some - Just can't get enough of got some...This should be single number 2. It has kick ass rock sound and radio friendly catchiness.
2. Just Breathe - Simply beautiful. Cant get this one out of my head.
3. Gonna See My Friend - Didn't think I was gonna like this one when I first heard the clip. But what a way to open the album! Great rocker, cant wait to hear this one live.
4. Unthought Known - Incredible Song. Pearl Jam is at their beat during build up songs like this.
5. Supersonic - Fun, punky, poppy, catchy, rocking. Love it.
6. Amongst the waves - This one is growing fast and could be up above the rest in no time.
7. Fixer - Great first single choice. This could easily be interchanged within the top 3 through 7.
8. The End - have only been able to give this one one listen. This could be at number three soon enough.
9. Speed of sound - Love the demo. So beautiful. The album version is unique and has nice tempo to it.

Wow...What a strong top nine. I know that throughout the next month each one of these 9 will be up at one at one point.

10. Force of Nature - So far its mediocre for me... Will listen to it. Its not a song that I'll skip but Ill be waiting for the end.
11. Johnny Guitar - Theres usually one Pearl Jam song on an album that I can do without (over the past few anyway). This is certainly it at the moment. I appreciate the fact they tried to do something different and branch out but for me it didnt work...Big time. Ill give it a coouple more shots but I think this might unfortunatley be a skipper.


Now I know the point of the album is to listen to it in its entirety and not skip around, im not promoting that and Im not doing that. Im just trying to have some fun and see what everyones favorites are! And like I said any of those first nine could be number one after a couple more listens! So exciting to have Pearl Jam developing in this way... Pearl Jam will never "return to form" They will just continue to grow and develop into their own which is brilliant and beautiful!

    11) Speed of Sound..not digging the country vibe or the 3rd slow single on an album that start with rockers..2 would have been perfect.

    1.) Amongst The Waves .. epic, inspiring, powerful, and possibly my favorite song of all time. (already!)

    2.) Unthought Known .. absolutely brilliant. not even too far behind ATW! love the different direction here!

    3.) Force Of Nature .. Ed's best lyrics on the album. this song has a fabulous structure. very strong and has great changes. the bridge riff is insanely cool.

    4.) Johnny Guitar .. this one seems to be getting lots of mixed feelings but i love it so much! ed's delivery is so interesting and i love the story it tells. the funky riff in between verses is SERIOUS.

    5.) The End .. stunningly beautiful. the typical "extremely sad but unbelievable" pj song.

    6.) Just Breathe .. again, stunningly beautiful. but not sad! this one is really special. it just has that sparkely/shiny feeling to it, if that makes sense.

    7.) Got Some .. Killer. i've heard someone say mikes guitar goes off like a siren in the beginning. i like that. brings me back to vs.

    8.) Speed Of Sound .. very, very interesting. definitely different for the band and i dig that. LOVE the trippy interludes into the verses.

    9.) Gonna See My Friend .. Brutal and rockin'. pj always does this extremely well. this one will RIP live. Matt's drumming is like a fucking machine gun, my god!

    10.) Supersonic .. Super fun, super catchy. pj does punk excellently if you ask me. the middle section with stone's riff and mikes soloing is BADASS.

    11.) The Fixer .. Nothing too special, but incredibly fun and upbeat. the bridge is the best part. cool tune.


    As you can see, every song had VERY POSITIVE notes on it. I truly believe this album is essentially flawless. Backspacer and Yield are pj's strongest albums if you ask me. I am sooooo happy with this album. All i do is listen to it over and over and over.

    This band doesn't make music, it makes magic.

    that was hard to do, theres not a really weak moment on it. really enjoying it, buit definitely putting myself on rations for now, otherwise I'll kill this thing way too quick

    Really difficult...

    1. Unthought Known: was my early favorite, so I'll go for this one as a favorite, even though the top ones are really hard to differentiate. After a few listens, and having read the lyrics... I am amazed.
    2. Amongst the Waves: lyrics added enormously to my enjoyment of it. Definitely among the best words ed's ever written.
    3. Force of Nature: I can't believe this one tends to be on the bottom of people's ranks. I love all about it: the melody, the words... good job guys :)
    4. Just Breathe: don't need to say anything, do I?
    5. The End: loved it instantly.
    6. Gonna See My Friend: Tough, badass, sad song.
    7. Got Some: Grew on me immensely since Conan
    8. Johnny Guitar: Fancy, funny.
    9. The Fixer: hated it at the beginning, until Ed explained it's an ironic song about the way things tend to go between men and women. A winner now.
    10. Speed of Sound: a little too all over the place, but much improved from the early version.

    I think that's all, yeah?

    ahah... good thing I forgot my least favorite... supersonic takes number 11. It's ok.. great riff, but does not do much for me. When I am in a hurry, I skip it :)

    1. Got Some - What can I say? I love this song.
    2. Force of Nature - I didn't really notice this song on the first few listens, but on about the sixth, it sort of just hit me.
    3. The Fixer - A solid rocker.
    4. Just Breathe - As much as I like this song, I don't really like it on the album.
    5. Supersonic - Fun rocker.
    6. Gonna See My Friend - I imagine this song will be better live.
    7. The End - Again, this is a good song, but I just wish it wasn't on a PJ album, it might be better on ITW or as a B-Side.
    8. Amongst the Waves - This song has some good moments, but some kind of cheesy ones too.
    9. Johnny Guitar - Nothing special.
    10. Speed of Sound - We're getting pretty cheesy now.
    11. Unthought Known - I just don't get the love for this song. I was literally cringing as I listened to this song for the third time.

    Overall, I think The Fixer being my 3rd favorite song on this album is a pretty good indication of what I think overall. Just not my favorite PJ by any means.

    Too hard to rank. The only song i am really not feeling is johnny guitar. Sounds like a b-side song, ie Leatherman-ish
    "All I Ever Knew" available now in print and digital formats at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iBooks.

    That said, I LOVE every one of these songs - what an awesome album! So incredibly happy with it.
