One of the most-anticipated music events taking place in the San Francisco area every year is Neil Young’s Bridge School Benefit. Although the dates for this year’s event were announced a few weeks ago – Oct. 24 & 25 at Mountain View’s Shoreline Amphitheatre – the official lineup was not announced until today. And what a lineup it is.

Of course, there’s Young and his wife Pegi. That’s a given. However, this year’s Bridge School sports a very impressive and varied list of artists and bands, including No Doubt, Chris Martin of Coldplay, Sheryl Crow, Fleet Foxes, Monsters Of Folk and Gavin Rossdale appearing on both days.

Jimmy Buffett appears only on Saturday, Oct. 24 and Adam Sandler makes one appearance – Sunday, Oct. 25.

I'm not on this board much, but I'm pretty sure this isn't the first time that you and I haven't seen eye-to-eye. And I doubt it will be the last.

Neil Young, No Doubt, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Fleet Foxes, Wolfmother, Sheryl Crow, Gavin Rossdale and the Monsters of Folk will perform at both nights of the annual Bridge School Benefit at Mountain View, California’s Shoreline Amphitheatre on October 24th and 25th, the Bridge School Website announced yesterday. Jimmy Buffett will also perform at the Saturday night show, and actor Adam Sandler — who got to rock out in Funny People — will take the stage Sunday.

Young and his wife Pegi established the Bridge School concerts in 1986, and the 2009 dates mark the 23rd annual benefit. The Bridge School assists children with severe physical and speech impairments. Tickets for the concerts go on sale Sunday, September 20th at Live Nation. The Bridge School site also reminds fans to check back as more special guests will be announced.

A lot of those act played the same Bridge!

I love this concert, but it hasn't had a solid lineup of people I would pay money to see in a long time. The only reason I would go is to support the Bridge School and enjoy Shoreline.

It always seems so last minute these days.

In my opinion (some of you) kind of did...

when I go to the bridge school show, I first make a charitable donation in the form of my ticket purchase, later in raffle tickets.

the show is the reward for making the donation. Artists, (in your opinion weak) give their time to come play and I sit politely in respect of that.

many times I am pleasantly suprised by a great unique perfomance I would have never paid to see.

so, by saying "I'm not going, the lineup sucks" it is judged as a perfomance and not as an act of charity. which is supposed to be the point of it.

    I think it's a solid lineup.

I think you may be overlooking the fact that most of us have to travel to the show. Times are tough...Some folks would be willing to spend the money if the lineup was better. It has nothing to do with not supporting the charity.

  • It's an atrocious lineup. Absolutely atrocious. I've gone frequently over the years, but not for that lineup. I remember when:

    CSNY
    Pearl Jam
    Incubus
    Willie Nelson
    Indigo Girls
    Couning Crows
    Wilco
    Dashboard Confessional

Those were the days. . .
It makes much more sense to live in the present tense.

Last year's show was great! Solid from the get go.
I’ve seen Pearl Jam 25 times, Eddie Vedder 9 times, and Brad once.

Again no one said anything about the cause. You can make a donation to Bridge School whenever you want. When I buy a ticket I am going to the concert first, in that I would not go if I didn't like the lineup.

    The lineup is horrible.
