That's exactly the point on this occasion it gives the down graded appearance that it's ok to speak down and outright call out the President who happens to be a person of color. Even after an apology what I believe will follow will be the encouragement of citizens doing the same thing if not worse in front of a national audience. Fox News and the rest of the media would absolutely play the story out quite differently. No doubt. Yes, people should be more open minded and not play the race card, but it's a plain fact, that the media would portray this picture completely different, if it was Bush on the podium and not Obama.
And from a social standpoint, Wilson is only doing what those few newsclips of the town hall meetings suggest: people lashing out towards the gov't. It's going to become more and more acceptable as it's been in the media already numerous times. Monkey see, monkey do.
