TOOL has obsessive fans at the same level if not more so than PJ fans (in which I am one :) of them ). Recently Maynard (lead singer of Tool) did a wine tour, he owns his own vineyard. Anyway he came to Dallas and did a wine selling "event" at a whole foods here where you could go and buy some of his wine and get it signed and meet him etc. I figured, given the nature of the event and that no music was going to be played, that the turnout would be mediocre. Man I was fucking wrong! Thousands showed up and stood in a line that went all the way around the building. They cut the line off at 1500 people so needless to say thousands didn't even get in. Also, the line looked like fans waiting to buy tickets to a Tool concert, and not a bunch of people waiting for wine lol. Tool's fans are obsessed all the way and there are tons of them.

  • The Tragically Hip could be compared as the Canadian Pearl Jam. They have a pretty dedicated fanbase. They are currently playing a week's worth of shows in my city in a smaller theatre (no opening act, just them, to change it up a bit from big arena shows). Last two times they were here, they sold out the MTS Centre (13,000+), and for a band that pretty much everyone in Canada has seen them about 6 times already, I'd say that qualifies!
