I think NIN has a small but rabid following.

Hehehehe. Not such a small following but definitely rabid. (How's 3 shows in the last week, and 6 shows in the last 3 months sound). But why is that - because Trent remains INTERESTING, creates quality art, engages us, keeps doing new stuff. He's ending NIN (for the foreseeable future) but said he will continue to make music.

The RHCP got boring. I liked their earlier stuff, but by Stadium Arcadium, it was just boring.

My daughter's pretty obssessive about Jonas bros - but that's typical for that age group I think.

oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

    Yeah, somehow forgot about Bruce...

A few years ago I was looking for some Bruce video bootlegs, and I found a trader site where every concert from the Rising tour was videotaped, and people made professional looking artwork for the discs, cases, etc... There are a lot of hardcore Bruce fans.

I think you can put basically any band, because they are each going to have some crazy fans. Are you looking for only large, well known bands?

yeah any band have their rabid fans, but I was wondering about any other band with a rich subculture like I see here in the board, which other bands have so many people with enciclopedic knowledge about them.

By the way what about metallica way back then I knew a lot of rabid metallica fans.

Widespread Panic would be a jam band with an obsessive fan-base....as would Government Mule or the Allman Brothers

I would have to say I'm obsesive fan when it comes my #1 band
    Michael Franti & Spearhead.

Does the obsession kick in after 40+ shows and travel to Europe (England, Ireland, Belgium and France) to see this band? :D

Two places I do want to see them and that is in Amsterdam and *Down Under*

i know a guy who is a pretty hardcore NiN fan. he still does the goth look in his thirties...

....It seems acceptable to do that when you're a pre-teen or even a teenager...but in your thirties??? Isn't there a point where you think like "Hey, I love this band, but my style doesn't have to reflect that."

    Definitely NIN.

Even more than the band's own forums check out ETS http://www.echoingthesound.org/
You'll get a pretty good idea.

As with PJ, there are so many serious fan websites dedicated to the band and every little aspect that surrounds it:

    http://www.theninhotline.net/
    http://www.ninwiki.com/
    http://www.nincatalog.com/
    http://www.ninlive.com/
    http://www.9inchnails.com/

    And MANY more.

Radiohead fans are very obsessive, although I wouldn't check out the board on Radiohead's website, I'd check out Ateaseweb or Greenplastic for better message boards.
