others bands with obsesive fans?

I just finished my PJ vinyl collection, and i wanted to start collecting vinyls from other bands that, I checked RHCP and STP and the fan community is very weak (at least for what i saw on their Forums) i haven't check Radiohead yet but i was wondering if there's any other band with such strong fan base like PJ?

Here on the board we can ask about any little tiny detail about pearl jam and we have people with (almost) masters and PHDs for PJ, and some very very VERY dedicated colletors with a vast knowlegde of PJ memorabilia. so again is any other band this "lucky"?

Thanks

I heard that but i can't understand why... I haven't pay any attention to them but... well there's public for everything.

    R.E.M.?

I'm talking obsesive like we all (or at least 99%) here with PJ.

Oooh I knew that one, i guess I'm a little dissapinted of the other bands i like RHCP or STP, i thought i would find there another rich "culture" but i guess those bands have only casual fans, C'est la vie

  • The problem with STP is there isn't really an official message board so the fanbase is scattered around the internet. There's the old official BBS which is hard to find on the atlanticrecords server, the BelowEmpty.com forums, and stmothafukinp.com. The board on STP's official site that they made in 2008 is impossible to navigate so nobody uses it. If STP would make a user friendly official board it would be very active, their MySpace gets a shit load of comments. STP are just very poor at communicating with their fans, but there are obsessive ones like me out there. I'm very happy they are together though.

With AIC there is kind of a division between fans. Some are very loyal to Layne so they stick on Layne themed boards while the people who like the new band go on the official board. I do both since both have a great group of people.

Oooh the good ol'd AIC... i don't know if i could ever be into the new one as to the original... I should give them a second chance.

I'm surprised it took this long for them to come up.

Also, the Black Crowes have some die hards that follow them everywhere. One of my friends has seen them nearly 100 times. She comes back to San Francisco every year as they have this new (3 year) tradition of playing 5 shows at the Fillmore every December (I wish PJ would do this!!!)

Also, if you're looking for obsessive over vinyl, all the Jack White incarnations have pretty crazy fans who are obsessed over getting every piece of vinyl every created by TWS, Racs and TDW*.

    * The White Stripes, Raconteurs, The Dead Weather ... wasn't sure if ARQ had heard of these bands ;)

Most jam bands (Dead, Phish, DMB, Cheese) are the obvious answers.

NIN has some serious fans, so I've heard.

I think the best way to do that, find and online station and let it play ... even through the bad tunes. (in other words, put all the PJ boots away for a bit ... shocking, I know)

Make notes of the song you really like ... when you get time, head over to youtube or the bands site to check out more.

I listen to "Indie Pop Rocks" on somafm.com, it's commercial free ... (they have many stations, I.P.R. is my favorite) ... I've discovered so many bands just letting that station play and making a note when something cathes my ear.

Pandora is also a good site for this ... enter songs you like and it will play similar songs, you can "like" or "dislike" a song and it will learn your tastes ... unfortunately, if you enter Pearl Jam, it may just start playing songs form that era .. but, give it a try.

One other recommendation, watch the opening bands when you go to concerts ... over the past 4 or 5 years, I've probably seen 10 opening bands that I absolutely love now.

Yeah i tried that and it'll play AIC, nirvana, STP, RCHP, well you know the usual, but i'll need time, I can' just leave my dear PJ aside! Well i'm into older bands too, I just discovered David Bowie before the 80's And i Love it!
