It gets me out of town, and he goes and does what he wants. It works.
I have seriously considered leaving him just for the fact that he does not get it, but I married him before I saw the band. He likes guns too...I seriously have no idea how we cohabitate.
Well, Ed and Johnny Ramone were very close friends, and Johnny was a notorious right-leaning Republican. Opposite attract, I suppose!
...of course, they weren't dating, though.
hahahahaha!
We have made it through 21 years. He is a pick up driving republican from Texas and I am a west coast tree huggin' hippie liberal. Go figure. I have TOTALLY swayed him in the political arena, though. I give thanks every day that my son turned out to be a free spirit and free thinker like me.
It is kinda amazing that it has worked.
He is a sweetheart and totally indulges me with this Pearl Jam thing. He knows that I would leave him in a heartbeat for Ed. He is ok with that...he just wants a house out of the deal.

Honestly my wife knew little and liked even less, the band Pearl Jam. I convinced her to got to our first show together, VFC Boston 2004. I have always liked PJ but seeing them live for the first time put me over the top. She appreciated them a lot more as well. FF to now. She likes them a million X's more than she did back then but still tells me to "give it a rest" when I try to put in a different bootleg almost every night. We just went to Chicago I a couple weeks ago and I think she is starting to get the itch again cause she asked me twice this week when Backspacer was coming in the mail.
He who forgets will be destined to remember.

My husband likes them, but he's not all gung-ho about them like I am. I've taken him to 2 PJ shows, and I think he's satisfied with that (he doesn't really enjoy concert-going as much as I do). However, he was completely blown away by Ed's solo show last year. He said it was the best concert he'd ever seen.

my girlfriend hates PJ. It's cool, though. We can't like all the same things.0

One time on the way back from Seattle, I suggested listening to Pearl Jam. My husband informed me he only likes 3 songs and he doesn't want to hear them.
I didn't tell him I got tickets for this tour. He found out reading the captions for my emails to a friend that I'm taking to the concert. When he found out I was going he about blew a gasket. That is too much money to spend on a concert. (It's ok if I go to Rush and Heart, but it's too fucking much to pay for Pearl Jam)
It's a good thing I have at least one friend that likes them. (Her husband didn't want to go)
Heavy sigh.
So, Pearl Jam is MY personal music. That's what it means to ME. That's all that matters.
It's all about me.A real possibility I may meet you in my dreams ~ I go to sleep0 -

She's not going to put on a PJ album or look for their songs on youtube like she does for other artists she enjoys. She'll only listen when I happen to have their stuff on.
Pretty much describes my wife also. She's been to 2 of Eddie's shows and loved them. She will always go to those now. She is going with me to 2 PJ shows for the first time, so I'm a little "nervous".Boston II 94 Boston II 06 Mansfield I 08 Mansfield II 08 Seattle I 09 Seattle II 09

She bleached my EV shirt!...lol
but, took my wife in 96 and that was about it for Pearl jam for her....I hear her humming parts of Last exit, Jeremy, and betterman but she couldn't less.....she likes Last Kiss thoughIf a man speaks in a forest and there is no woman around to hear him, is he still wrong?0 -
he's pretty indifferent .. i took him to a show a few years back and he liked it, but it didnt really turn him into a fan. he did say he'd go to another one if the opportunity arose. he's just not the type to get REALLY into any music/band (pretty much the exact opposite of me in that respect).0

Uh...hopefully all three of these paragraphs are jokes.
um...actually no... not at all... this is my life...why?it's largely due to eddie that i liked to jump off of things as a child...0 -

actually... i have never/nor will ever cheat on her... although she says she will destroy my collection if i ever do (her ex cheated on her)...the collection took me years to collect...either or... it doesnt change the fact that i do collect double and triples of most of their poster, albums...tshirts...and i dont even wanna go into my bootleg collection... i have over 100 pearl jam shirts in those air tight bags in retirement for when im in my fifties and sixties... i usually find a shirt at a show a like and buy two... one for now... one for future...she thinks im crazyit's largely due to eddie that i liked to jump off of things as a child...0 -
it's clear that we need a support group for PJ fanatics with unsupportive significant others. maybe at least the mods would let us have a support sticky thread.
i am glad my wife at least is ok with me going to shows that are within a reasonable distance - like chicago this year. she doesn't "hate" PJ and tries to understand my obsession.0 -

my boyfriend is the same way .. he thinks im nuts, but is supportive as he knows it is something that makes me really happy.0 -
my wife likes PJ but just plain isn't a big fan of any music. she doesn't own a stitch of music (and that's a good thing because our house has only enough room for one outrageous collection). when driving, she mostly listens to npr or other talk radio. but she's seen them with me 4 times and is going to one of the 3 shows that i have tickets for in philly. she always enjoys the shows but mostly digs on the hits. i'm grateful that she understands my obsession. she doesn't bitch when the new PJ t's or onesies arrive for our 2 kids, and she only rolls her eyes when she sees the small box arrive on the porch every now and again. she already knows its another bootleg from ebay. i play a lot of boots and i catch her every now and again humming or singing along. perhaps all the sensory overload will eventually brainwash her to conform with my altered state of pearl jam on the brain.0

My husband agreed to vacation in Chicago recently and go to both concerts, but then sat more than he stood. I'm only bringing him to one Philly show -- I'm going to the other three with another local female PJ fan whose husband is also happy to not have to go to all four concerts.0
