My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. We sometimes take for granted our mortality and I'm so glad to hear how you were so close to your Dad. We just don't know when our end will come, treasure those moments with your loved ones.
Stay strong this Thursday, 55 is far too young to leave this life may your father RIP.
Peace

Sian,
I am very sorry for your loss. October will mark 5 years since my Dad passed. The sadness is offset by the memories, and it seems you must have a boatload of wonderful memories of time spent with your Dad. Cherish them always. My sincere condolences to you, your Mother and brothers.
Sounds like your father was already extremely proud of you...so sorry for your loss..

I'm very sorry to hear about your dad. It sounds like you had an incredible relationship.

i am so truly saddened by your loss, what a tragedy...he was so young! my heartfelt condolences to you and your family. i too know what it is like to lose your beloved father, i was there at 23, 4 months shy of my wedding. it is heartwrenching to lose a parent. i wish your father peace....and you and your family a lot of love to help you thru this most difficult time in your lives...
Tidal waves don't beg forgiveness
Crashed, then on their way
Father he enjoyed collisions; others walked away
A snowflake falls in May.
And the doors are open now as the bells are ringing out
Cause the man of the hour is taking his final bow
Goodbye for now.
Nature as its own religion; gospel from the land
Father ruled by long division, young men they pretend
Old men comprehend.
And the sky breaks at dawn shedding light upon this town
They'll all come around
Cause the man of the hour is taking his final bow
Goodbye for now.
And the road
The old man paved
The broken seams along the way
The rusted signs, left just for me
He was guiding me, love, his own way
Now the man of the hour is taking his final bow
As the curtain comes down
I feel that this is just goodbye for now

Sian,
I must start by saying that I know how you feel (losing someone so, so close). I also know that at this time, there are no words that will fill the void that is now present. But I hope that all the care, concern, and love you receive from your family on the board, along with all the beautiful memories you have of your father and your immediate family will help heal your wounds. It is true that time helps, but time cannot bring anyone back as we all know.
Your father lives on with you.
Your father lives on with his family, and his legacy.
Never forget love and lessons you received from the wonderful man who will always be your father.
I'm an open ear, as are a lot of people here.
Much love,
Dave

oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
I can't say thank you enough to everyone; The list of shoulders to cry on grows daily. Thank you to all of you who have PMed, called, text or sent cards... you have no idea how much it is appreciated. I am truly blessed to have friends like you.
My Dad's funeral was arranged yesterday. Myself and my older brother will be performing the eulogy and we are having Jethro Tull's 'Too Old to Rock and Roll, Too Young to Die' played as well as his favourite flute concerto... he would've liked that. I'm just hoping with all my energy that I can hold it together on the day.

want to be enlightened"
You were once my one companion
You were all that mattered
You were once a friend and father
Then my world was shattered
Wishing you were somehow here again
Wishing you were somehow near
Sometimes it seemed if I just dreamed
Somehow you would be here
Wishing I could hear your voice again
Knowing that I never would
Dreaming of you won't help me to do
All that you dreamed I could
Passing bells and sculpted angels
Cold and monumental
Seem for you the wrong companions
You were warm and gentle
Too many years fighting back tears
Why can't the past just die?
Wishing you were somehow here again
Knowing we must say goodbye
Try to forgive, teach me to live
Give me the strength to try
No more memories, no more silent tears
No more gazing across the wasted years
Help me say goodbye
Help me say goodbye
I have just seen this as well... my heart goes out to you and your family in this tough time.
