I've always thought KOL was an overrated and shitty band...

That stuff they play on the radio is horrible, horrible, music!

  • Man, I was dancing the other night to some house music and DJ Donald Glaude threw sex on fire and use someboby into the mix....the crowd loved it. I think remixes are fun. The Cure had a great remix album. My favorite Tori Amos songs are remixes. To each their own.
  • yeah they really turned into a bunch of pussies, 2 albums ago. now people who hated them love em- its a bunch of pop crap.

Kings of Leon made two passable albums and then became fashionable and mainstream.

    They're no loss.

So what are you doing on a Pearl Jam board? You should have stopped listening to them after the Jeremy video hit MTV.

listened to the entire thing, its not good, not even a little bit, sorry[/quote]

Don't apologise, it's not your fault......
  • I recall being derided and told I was stoopid for saying I didn't like the direction the band took on ObtN. I wonder how those folks feel about this revelation??? I foresee a duet with Hannah Montana on their next album.
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all

i love KOL. the new record took a while to grow on me, but i like it. not nearly as much as 'because of the times,' & 'aha shake...', or even their first album.
i too think the remix album is just a bad idea in general and an overall waste of time. so what if jason timbercreek is a big fan??? who cares. let him record his own song-by-song remake of the album.
i won't go as far as accuse them of selling out. i just think that they should get right back in the studio and record an album that's nothing at all like 'only by the night.' a remix album only delays an album of new material even further.
    i'm rambling. so what.

I don't think they have to do anything for this. Aren't they basically saying "sure, take our songs, remix them however you want, and we'll see what comes out and split the royalties"? I don't think they need to do anything other than give their permission. It's not like they're hunkering down in the studio with Justin Timberlake to write stuff together. They giving him the right to go home, play with his pro tools, and see what comes out.

Someone else above said they can't imagine what this would sound like, as if that was a bad thing. Isn't that kind of the point of this album? If you knew what it would sound like, there'd be no reason to do it. I get the impression they heard the first remix, were kinda surprised and thought it sounded cool, and so decided to let the whole album be done like that.

I was a HUGE KoL fan when they had long hair, beards and played good ole fashioned RnR.

For all that people around here want to rant about what a remix album says about the new KoL fanbase, the fact that not a single thread about these guys can be made that doesn't at some point involve men talking about their wardrobe and looks says a lot more about their old fanbase.

It's so irritating to hear "Sex on Fire" played on the radio
    I agree.

Seen them twice in the last 8 months. They are one of the best live bands I've ever seen. I couldn't give a shit what they release, if I don't like it I don't buy it.

What has pissed me off is their attitude at the Reading Festival. They behaved like a bunch of sulky twats!
Edit: and what's pissed me off even more is the blind defense of them on the KOL board.
