Kings of Leon are NOW DEAD TO ME

Kings Of Leon have announced details of a remix album which will include reworkings by the likes of Mark Ronson and Linkin Park.
Drummer Nathan Followill revealed that the idea for the album came about after the band heard that Justin Timberlake and Pharrell had remixed some Kings Of Leon songs without telling the band.
Followill told Billboard.com that the band were into the idea, adding that Lykke Li and Kenna are now also among the artists working on the album.
"It's neat to have these people who we would've jumped at the chance to work with ourselves...coming to us before we even get a chance to ask them," Followill explained. "It's amazing to hear your song played by these people who are so creative. Most of the time it takes me two or three listens to even wrap my head around, 'Oh man, that's our song'."
The drummer added that the band are set to release a DVD of one of their London O2 Arena gigs in July. "We figured what better place to make a live DVD than where the fans have been the craziest for the longest?" he said about the reason for choosing a UK gig for filming.
Followill also revealed that Kings Of Leon have "eight or 10" ideas for new songs they are working on at present, saying that the band want to be more adventurous on their next record.
"There's stuff that sounds like Radiohead. There's stuff that sounds like Thin Lizzy. There's stuff that sounds like The Band," he said. "We're pretty much to the point now where...we can be experimental and try stuff we would've been scared to death to try on the first couple of records."

It's so irritating to hear "Sex on Fire" played on the radio in the UK and some fuckwit DJ saying "that's a hit from their debut album."
these guys have to be stopped at all costs.

Name me 5 bands that have allowed their album to be remixed by R&B and rap-metal producers? I understand a song or 2 from a band being remixed to club but an entire album of songs that have no place being remixed? KoL dont have remixable songs if you ask me. Do you want to be hanging in a bar and all of a sudden some repetative mundane drum beat comes over the speaker which sounds like Cher or Usher and all of a sudden...you hear..."I've been roaming around always lookin down at all I see..." doesnt there seem to be something odd about that?
Now I will say Chemical Brothers have always done a great job of remixing certain Noel Gallagher sung Oasis songs "Falling Down" being the last one and it sounds good, but do I want to hear "Boy with The Blues" or "Soldier On" or "Wonderwall" remixed? no..now I get the "If you dont like it dont buy it" argument..its true..but doesnt it almost seem that this band is being shoved down the throats like Dave Matthews was 10 years ago? Can you fault them for mainstream success? no..Do I have to continue to watch them become a shell of themselves..no to that too
I was a HUGE KoL fan when they had long hair, beards and played good ole fashioned RnR..I LOVED the first 2 albums and the original EP...now..I can honestly say I'm disappointed

You liked the band when they had long hair and looked Rock and Roll?
You like the first two albums and the EP? How do you explain "California Waiting"? That song is PURE pop rock.

I'm sure the remixes will suck. There's no doubt in my mind.
http://www.reverbnation.com/brianzilm
the fact that there is even an audience for these remixes pretty much sums up the state of Kings of Leon at this moment
You mean the audience that listens to shitty pop radio stations now that are getting exposed to a great band with a great back catalog of albums to turn them on to real rock and roll? Yeah. That sucks.
http://www.reverbnation.com/brianzilm
it usually works the opposite. The band caters to that audience as they ignore their prior work that wasn't profitable to them. Hell, I've had people that asked me if I ever heard of a new band called Kings of Leon....that is what pop music stations do, they don't get and audience to buy previous records. That's audience doesn't even buy albums anyway. Flo-Rida has like 3 #1 hits and has never put out an album, that audience just downloads one song so I wouldn't expect them to find out that Kings of Leon have previous history
See I dont think of that as pop rock..i dunno...i liked it back then and I still like it now. you cant compare that to the new stuff...night and day....oh and my comment was when they had long hair and PLAYED rock n roll..not looked..
and the comment had to do more with the word Rock N Roll and less to do with the Long hair comment

Of course they're being shoved down our throats!! That's what crappy radio does these days. Caleb commented on Sex on Fire, saying that he's sure the crowd doesn't want to hear it any more than they want to play it. seemed to me like they were embarrassed that THAT song is what made them huge in the states (don't blame them about being embarrassed!!!)
I guess I just don't care what the band wants to do with their album. I never said that I would listen to it or that I thought it would sound good...I'm just not disappointed that they're choosing to do it.
btw, do the beards and long hair really make a difference
Whatever you are, be a good one --Lincoln
OF COURSE! Its the source of the southern rock! Long hair is essential!
for instance...
this..
reminds me of this...
I rest my case

But I tend to think taking advantage of quick popularity will end their 15 minutes that much sooner.
When their original fanbase goes away (made with the 1st three albums) because of this change, they have no one to blame but themselves.
Hope I'm wrong, but think this is kinda the beginning of the end for these guys. The next album will tell.
They're good musicians and will hopefully do something creative that'll appeal to they're diehards and they're newer fans.
I'll try to be open-minded.
I won't quote all the pictures, but those were PERFECT! LOL!!!!

2. Eddie had a mohawk before that. Did you expect him to let his hair grow back uneven?
