The Day I thought would NEVER come!

.....EDIT

**DISCLAIMER** I am not in financial straights nor am I dying! ;-) Lets call it an epiphany...an awakening...finding myself and losing my religion all at the same time. I am not in a very good place these days...I know that brighter days are ahead, but right now things are pretty dark in my world. A place I have never been and hope I dont visit for long....;-)

END EDIT! :-)

As much as it pains me to say this.....Due to some recent(and not so recent) events in my life...Some health related...Some personal...and some that I have been struggling with for a long long long time....I have come to the conclusion that I am going to more than likely be getting rid of a vast majority of my collection...From posters to vinyl and everything in between. Aside from a few things, it will pretty much all be going.

So...that said...Some of you are very familar with some of the things I have by way of the conversations here and at shows, so if there is something that you have wanted, just drop me a note and I will consider it. I have 180+ posters, and most of those will be going. There are about 100 of them framed....Not sure what to do about those just yet as they are all dry mounted and wil need to be shipped as they are. Will figure that out when the time comes. This will be a very slow proccess that will take months and months, so uif you drop me a pm or an email, please be patient and dont get discouraged. I am telling you right now, you may not get a timely response so if you cant handle that...Please dont bother. Any questions about something I may have, just ask.

Dude, that sucks! I don't know ya, but have seen lots of your posts, I think a few pics over the years etc.... you have quite the collection...didn't you end up with a garage or something where they're all displayed? About as close as there has ever been to a PJ museum....now it's gonna be scattered? :(

Scott- sorry to hear of your predicament, I know how much that collection means to you....anyway, though I wont be asking to buy anything, I hope you NEVER forget the PJ stories and experiences that you have amassed and hopefully you will continue to. Like the time I pissed Jeff off the night of Deranged Diction in Charlie's. I know I wont forget it

    Scott,
this pains me to see this thread. If there is anything we as friends and Pearl Jam fans can do to help you keep what is dear to you, please let us know and do not hesitate to say so.

I hope all things are well with you as you are good to this PJ community

Wow, I'm sorry to hear about that.

Yeah, waves crashing all over the places.... same here. It's been hell for the last few years, especially the last 2 years, worsening as time goes on and now we're in the process of getting a foreclosure note on the house and I'm doing everything I can to fight it.

But I'd rather deal with that than the health issues.

I hope you get well and that things start to look up and the PJ community will come and help you out.

Good luck, Scott, and hang in there. It WILL pass...I know it feels like forever or stuck...with emotions running high and all that crap....but trust me, it WILL pass.

I should clarify something....This is NOT about $$ and I am not dying! ;-)...I am doing fine in that dept. Not financially motivated in any way whatsoever. This is about more personal struggles than anything else. It is about looking at this STUFF and having some sort of an epiphany with myself that it is just THAT....Stuff...Does it make me happy? Or was it all a false belief? Not sure. Today it all seems false to me..Tomorrow a diffferent story, but it is what it is.

Amen, brother. Its just stuff. But it may be wise to find the middle path, get rid of most, but keep a little, y'know.

Ahh, thank god. I'm glad you are not that sick!

But sick of all the materialism....I got ya on that.

Totally can relate with you there...

Fuck, sell those stuff to save my house!!!

    I keed, I keed....

Yeah, it's like what you said - personal struggles and I hope you find the answers along the way... :D You need more time, I think, to analyze things in your life...and things will be clearer.

Thank god you are not sick though.... *whew*

I feel your pain on this one - I sold the vast majority of my collection about... 10 years ago to help my siblings and parents out with some financial emergencies that really had nothing to do with me (my brother screwed up his college loan and was about to get booted from school and my parents had a few emergencies come up).

So I would definitely set aside anytihng you think is important to you and just hang on to it, because I still have yet to find a lot of the things I never really wanted to sell...

I'll PM you, but definitely make sure you set aside the things you really like because you know as well as anyone how hard they can be track down!

Hope everything else gets going well for you -- I know we dealt before and it was a very positive experience and those don't always happen!

    Take care!

Why don't you donate some of it so it can be auctioned off for charities and help out those
    less fortunate.
After all, you did say it wasn't a $$ thing.

Glad to hear it's not your health or major $ issue but wish you well all the same. I have just gone thru "purging" stuff that no longer makes me happy & not sure it ever really did-some actually makes me unhappy to look at. As others have already said, tho, make sure you set apart some things that have the best memories attached. I have also hastily purged only to reget it. Take your time w/the process to be sure. In the meantime we all hope that things are looking up VERY soon. Hang in & peace!

i do hope everything is alright mate. i can relate to the whole attachment to things paradox. i have read alot of buddhist philosophy lately and it seems that pain is caused by attachments to things that are dear and people that we love. happiness is a long bumpy road at times mate. take good care.

    Hey Scott,

From our last few emails I saw this may be coming. Pj collecting is neverending - I think the way you are doing it is the only way to get out for good. I'm not saying I'm not surprised, as I an sure you are surprised too - otherwise I guess you'd have never dry mounted but I do respect your decisiveness on this

you know I'll help if I can, throw me a line if you need anything mate

I am picking up bits and bits on that too, the Buddhism philosophy... I do have a lot of issues and a lot of learning to do. :?

But it does help a lot in understanding about myself and people around me....

But I do have happiness in a sense of relationship with my husband and children...but everything else.... quite a challenge.

I am happy that it is nothing serious affecting your health or financial security. Whatever your reasons, I hope it will give you the outcome you desire. Best of luck.
