I remembering it being mentioned in a couple of the articles about the video shoot. I will look for those again, I guess. But it is also the most logical thing to do when you need three hundred workers on short notice without trying to let any word out about the event.
  • Freakin awesome and i have to admitt something guys i was a fixer hater after i heard it live in manchester i started to turn but after seeing and hearing that video i love it so sorry guys for hateing

Does this video remind anyone else of Niel Young's music video for Harvest Moon? Only on steroids.

The only bit that I can find with a quick search was from Antiquiet "According to our source, about 300 extras were hired to be in the crowd for the taping, a large number of whom were reportedly laid-off workers from the area."

I also remember that the first bit of info came from a personal blog of someone who was in the audience, one of the unemployed extras who said she was hired through her unemployment agency. Her statement about the video shoot was removed from her blog.

ps I really don't care if the hiring was done thru talent agency or unemployment agency. Most people who are extras are actors or artists who need some extra cash to supplement the meager wages they receive. I just wanted to clarify why some were pointing out the work status of the extras. No one is a professional extra, you can't make enough money only being an extra.

  • Mmm, I like it. Not very PJ style maybe, with the crowd and the crowd noises (those I really don't like).

Overall, it's just them playing, only this time with a bunch of video effects and jumping crowd.
The song rocks, IMHO 8-) , and that's the most important thing!

    I love Pearl Jam
I loved their attitude against modern Music Industry
I loved Eddie Vedders kryptical lyrics
I loved the way they changed their musical style with each record without being unfaithfull to themselves.
    I loved the pessimistic atmosphere.
    I loved their explosive shows

    What is left ?

They make videos, they became optimistc, the lyrics are straight, even the crowd is calmer... . On the other side I must admit that I really like the fixer and got some but I'm not sure that they have the potential to really reach me like songs like Release, immortality, Not for you, given to fly, tremor christ and many others
Beavis : Is this Pearl Jam?
Butt-head: This guy makes faces like Eddie Vedder.
Beavis: No, Eddie Vedder makes faces like this guy.
Butt-head: I heard these guys, like, came first and Pearl Jam ripped them off.
Beavis: No, Pearl Jam came first.
    Butt-head: Well, they both suck.

hey i couldn't give 2 shits about this but it's edited in such a way to appeal to a younger demographic who has the attention span of a gnat on meth...wait until you see the 15 and 30 second commercials...those will make this look like citizen cane :D

"gnat on meth" that is great!! LOL . . LOL . . .LOL!!! You called it, most folks seem to have gnat on meth attention span.

Have you heard 'The End' yet? The played it at SBE and it will reach you, I'm sure, perhaps not in the same way as some of the songs you listed but it is really one to grip you from within. And Just Breathe sounds pretty deep too on the Clinch video on the PJ home page. Good balance on the new album I think

Bon Jovi called. They want their video back.

The video looks like it has been edited by a high school kid. Great song and the potential for a great video, but it's been destroyed in the editing room.

    lets see...

option one: young, attractive, excited crowd jumping and cheering.

option two: 30something crowd of bored onlookers waiting for a rare b-side who take pee breaks during Even Flow and complain of crowd surfing and GA audiences.

nah. i've had enough of that. Pearl Jam is a great live band. this song wouldn't work at all with that either.

we are all getting older ;)
I think the crowd is getting more U2 like. I can't understand when I read post where people are crying about to raw crowds. It's a Rock band ! And even if I'm an adult, a father and a responsable person I must say Mosh pits are fun ! I don't like the people who are at a gig like they were at Le Louvres !

yeah its getting bad. Soon, i fully expect threads complaining that PJ shows are too loud or that they should institute a dress code or some other nonrock'n'roll nonsense.

its really enough to make me avoid many 10clubbers.

My Friends and I we all have works with a lot of responsabilty, some of us have familly, etc but if we know where which behaviour is adapted so we have much fun at concerts. That's normal here ;)

    Well...

I'm not a fan of "The Fixer" but I liked the sound in the video better than the track on the radio. Def. had a lot more punch to it.

Oh, but the video was a little on the lame side.

Def. something I could see Fall Out Boy or The Jonas Brothers doing. While not horrible, definitely not good!

Nothing's ever going to work with this song because it sucks.

Alright, alright, that's not the way I should word it. First off, more power to anyone and everyone who likes The Fixer. Good for you. And I really mean that because it's great when a new song comes along that you really like...be it by Pearl Jam, another band you really like, or someone you never listen to. But I just think this song is fucking horrible.....

Not just horrible, but really one of the gayest and most annoying songs I've ever heard. And I don't say that because I expect every new Pearl Jam song to blow my mind and I'm pissed because this didn't....hell I really like Got Some, Supersonic, and Speed of Sound a lot. If any artist recorded The Fixer, I'd hate it. It's just unbelievably bad, cheesy and POPPY. Yes people, "poppy" is bad when you're a hard rock band. "Catchy" is great. Corduroy is a perfect example of a "catchy" hard rock song. But The Fixer is true cheeseball pop. I would never play this song for someone and say "This is Pearl Jam" because they'd think I'm a dude who listens to crappy, generic rock music. The Fixer is like Third Eye Blind-level lame.

And I want to note that I've listened to The Fixer twice as wrote this just to make sure I should really submit such a hater-like post. And I've decided....YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH!

Yet for some reason I think it'll be tolerable live.

i have a feeling this song will not age well...i heard it the other day and was already kinda bored of it

thankfully, it sounds like the rest of the album is amazing so it won't bother me if the fixer is the lame song :D

Yeah I totally agree. I've really liked everything else I've heard....and look forward to hearing the studio version of Supersonic on Monday.

i agree totally, but for some reason the vid bothers me less than the song. the song itself is a little better too (a little rawer and no fade!). it will be fine live (without the poppy production values), but every PJ song is fine live. I just dont see how the video is so Un-Pearl Jam to people. i guess its the camera angles and the Jesus Christ pose, which he does all the time!
