Why are people talking about unemployed people? Professional shoots use professional extras. Maybe some of those people got a casting call and they didn't have work but to say that the crowd was all unemployed is ridiculous. I said it was unfortunate they had to go this route but it was the only way they could attempt to film this without getting out. We all know how successful that was. These deals are set in stone by lawyers and hard "release dates". There were no "unemployed" people used in the making of this commercial. To say so is comical.
That was the whole point, Pearl Jam planned a secret mini-concert and they performed this song. Cameron Crowe filmed it.

Cameron Crowe is A little un-connected these days to say the least... Nonetheless, I wonder if this will help them 'fix' things with the MTV kids! :D

All we need is a Lil Jon cameo, and straight to #1!

    this video =weak
Life Wasted was even better than this.
Life has nothing to do with killing time.
    So why be satisfied?
  • tell me when it gets to youtube

im not a fan of the Fixer, but the video is fine. I'll take vids of the band playing over crap like the Jeremy vid anyday. the crowd noise is a little irritating.

The "Life Wasted" video was very good, so why are you guys comparing this to that as an insult?
  • fromt the comments here i expected something along the lines of the U2 and Colplay commercials. this was refreshingly simple to me though.

that's because what you saw didn't end with

    Target%20Logo.jpg

this feels just like u2's blackberry ad
  • Not exactly sure what a Jonas Brother video would look like but this is what I imagine. It's really only the crowd thing that is killing it for me in a bad, bad way
i dont get this. its just the band playing in front of a crowd with some screens in the back. this could be similar to Jonas Bros, The Beatles, or fucking David Bowie! what exactly makes it seem kiddy?
  • For the life of me I can't see what's so bad about this. It's just a live performance of the song and is actually pretty cool. The crowd seems fine. My hunch is that a lot of you don't like the video because you don't like the song, and you don't like the crowd because they're not you.

actually, visually i liked both those commercials (dont care for those songs). the visuals were pretty cool. this isnt similar at all. this is just the band playing to a crowd with screens in the back. so what?

I don't like the song... I LOVE THE SONG... so it has nothing to do with that... and sorry, no jealousy here.. i'm too old for that shit... just simply don't like it, that's all... maybe if it was black and white it would help... dunno, just doesn't hit me right

hey i couldn't give 2 shits about this but it's edited in such a way to appeal to a younger demographic who has the attention span of a gnat on meth...wait until you see the 15 and 30 second commercials...those will make this look like citizen cane :D

And my hunch is you're wrong.

I love the song. I hate this video.

WHY IS THE CROWD SO EXCITED? THEY SHOULD BE STANDING THERE LIKE ZOMBIES!

Is it me, or is Ed's vocal track identical to the studio version?

The band sounds different, but either they used Ed's studio vocals or he just nailed it.

I noticed that too. I think its the studio vocals.

how so? im thirty and it appealed to me. Pretty much every video ever made has quick cuts. its what makes them vidoes. thats why people crit some movies for their 'music video' editing.

btw, i pretty much hate the song.

Exactly. This crowd looks happy to be there instead of obsessing over the set list.

    hahaha exactly.
Jam out with your clam out.
  • The point people are trying to make about the unemployed audience is that pearl jam representatives called a local unemployment agency and hired people from that agency for the day.

So this is pretentious? ( 1. Claiming or demanding a position of distinction or merit, especially when unjustified. 2. Making or marked by an extravagant outward show; ostentatious.)

"Hey let's have you guys play the song a dozen times live in front of 300 people we hired and we'll film it and make a video". Step-up your Vocab, or don't use words you don't know how to use.

    Here's a pretentious or showy video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pgum6OT_ ... re=related

The video is not that bad. I kind of liked it. The only thing was I felt like I was watching it while on a roller coaster. Who cares if they used extras for the commercial? They seem more lively than the actual Pearl Jam fans who attend concerts and sit in the first few rows.
