We are down I 75 about 15 minutes past the airport,
the roads that border the lake are Walt Stephens and Jodeco
Blackhall and Camp...we're in North Shore.
It's a small motorboat lake, 10 miles of shoreline. Its very pretty.
The original houses are mostly gone now bought up and either remodeled
or taken down just for the lot.
Huge mansions now sit around the lake.
We are not on the lake  but can walk down the boat ramp to it.

I hope we get some rain soon.
They lowered the lake last fall for silt removal and its not coming up very fast
the boat sits in the driveway :(

Nice. So your kinda near Locust Grove area. Im heading to Lanier in about an hour. I have a boat and 2 Jet Skis. I bet your small lake would be fun for water sports! Seeya at Alpine ;)
Wish I could say yes to that..Alpine..I'm with you in spirit though

Yes we had a jetski when the kids were young and a ski boat but now we just have a pontoon...
taking it slow these days

Locust Grove is quite a ways down I75 from us we are by the Stockbridge exit.
LG is where we go party maybe 20 minutes south. Its a great biker bar for southern rock and blues there...
The Grove. Awesome wings too and the best chili. JB loves chili.

Lanier is a gorgeous lake enjoy your beautiful day! :D

Alright, Zack, give us a review of the show you saw last night in...you know...the south.

(when you're done sleeping it off, that is)

    .

The Avett Brothers show last night was incredible! GA on the floor so my girlfriend and I stood about 10 feet from the stage, just right of center. The stage presence of these guys is unreal. They are so damn talented - each plays several different instruments and their voices are powerful, to say the least. The songs translate so well live and they simply put on one hell of a show. Very high energy. Would highly recommend them to anyone who has the chance to seem them live. I can't imagine you'd be disappointed. Was nice to get lost in the live music atmosphere and forget about the PJ mess for a night. These guys are quickly becoming one of my favorite bands right now. Caught the tail end of the ACL set in 2009, been listening to the albums since, and now seeing a full live show - man, I was just blown away. Amazing, amazing show. I'm already thinking of making a trip to Dallas in October for their show on the 14th. It's a Friday night so it works.

And Shep - thanks for the tip about the bars at Bayou Place. We went up to PBR and had a drink and watched drunks ride the mechanical bull while girls in assless chaps danced on the bar. Nice place, even my girlfriend liked it.

Guys, trust me - there's no other place that I'd rather be at Labor Day weekend (and FSU has a home game that weekend), but it's just not in the cards for me this year. Really sucks. I just hope they can get a webcast together for it so those of us at home can still watch

  • Foo Fighters was a packed house last night at the Fed Ex in Memphis, even the nose bleeds were full. So it's not because we don't show up for a concert down here!
