Illegal helmet to spine on the blindside hit? Or just a clean knock the air out of him kind of hit? Just so I have a better visual there Cosmo. ;)
    ...
You know me.. I'm not a big fan of cheap shots, so... a clean, unobstructed path to the QB from the blindside and putting the hat right between the numbers causing a giant snot bubble to explode from his face. And a passing comment like, "That's a message from my dog, Butkus...".
    That'll do.

You hit this one right on the head. This is how America works. Michael Vick is not responsible for the light punishment for his crime. The Legislative and Justice systems are the responsible parties that work out penalties and punishment. If people are so upset about the punishment not fitting the crime... they should DO something about it... writing to your Senators and Congressman is a good place to start.

I don't care for Vick either, but to say his punishment was light I think is a bit of a stretch. While what he did was wrong, the man has paid his price and then some in my opinion.

i would think a lot of white people would defend it as well. i remember seeing something on tv about these 2 teenagers that broke into this house where the couple had a cat rescue...they went in with bats and killed a bunch of cats and kittens and the teens parents and many in the community thought 'they were just cats' one even remarked "it's not like they killed a person" lots of people of every race don't think there is anything wrong with what michael vick did

The most horrible thing about what he did is that he profited from it. Even if you were a sort of person who didn't feel empathy for animals, it's logical to understand that hurting something with no power for money isn't right.

Can't believe people are still playing the race card in this country....get over it. Maybe Vick deserves another chance...shouldn't everybody get a second chance to make amends from their mistakes? Prison can change people!

blacks talk about 2nd chances except when it comes to Don Imus, Michael Richards, etc.

I have no problem with Michael Vick being back in the NFL, I just don't want him on my team. Unfortunately my team picked him up and I have to choose to cheer for the scumbag or go against my fandom. I still want to the Eagles to win I just don't want to see him have anything to do with it.

Blacks defend blacks like OJ and Michael Vick as a response to their belief that the white man is keeping them down. Unfortunately you can't speak to and of problems in the black communities less you be labeled a racist. Until the black communities allow for honest and frank talks about what troubles their communities then they will continue on the path of destroying their own. When you have a culture of 'don't snitch' and the like then how can a community be helped or saved? Until black communities start to take care of their own, police their own there isn't a lot white America can do to help them. Say what you want about White america but for the most part white america doesn't stand for crime and criminals in their own neighborhoods.
  • Most of my coworker friends are black & spanish and to a man they all defend him and say he paid the price ,i don't see it that way i say he should of been banned for life from the game that made him all that $$$$$$$$ to fund the killing game he supported for yrs ........

I would not have cared if Michael Vick had been signed by the N E Patriots main reason being I don't own the team. I would still root for the Patriots if MV had been signed, the team and the organization is much bigger than any one player. Even one who abused animals to no end. That team owner can do whatever he wants with his team and we as fans either have to accept this or go and root for the Steelers or the Cowboys.

You know this for a fact or is this an outright generalization that ALL blacks defend blacks because the white man is keeping him down? I know I don't, I felt OJ did the crime and now karma has hit him hard right now. I haven't in any way defended MV, I do believe he should be given an opportunity to play again in the NFL. I believe things like this happen for a reason and I think and hope MV will do more for the positive treatment of animals than any other organization such as PETA.

So I gather from this that you believe for the most part the black community is just fine with crime and criminals in their own neighborhoods. Interesting statement indeed, have you ever lived in a black community to make this observation?

I don't know if i term that they are 'fine' with crime but clearly in the inner-cities of America there is a culture of violence and crime and those neighborhoods are often populated by blacks. Why is this so? The most stated answer is economic reasons but other minorities have suffered economically and not resorted to a thug culture. As you ask me regarding if I ever lived in a black community again this is an example of the defensive nature of referring to the problem. I live within a few miles of a major US city so I've been exposed to the inner-city often enough to know enough about it to talk about it. If you don't agree with my characterization of the inner-cities of America I ask you to spend sometime in North Philadelphia, South Central LA, or Detroit for reference. Also can you explain why blacks make up such a small minority of the population of America but are in the criminal justice system at an extremely much higher percentage than other races?

The dude has been playing lights-out! I typically don't like running QB's but he has been amazing to watch so far this year. And I'm sure most Philly fans wouldn't care if he had a prior life as a serial killer as long as he gets them to the playoffs.

Good thing he is elsewhere, his attitude was so poor but perhaps he has wised up a bit,
    even been humbled.
He was horribly arrogant. I'm not convinced he has changed though,
still hanging with the wrong crowd...?

What elite athlete isn't horribly arrogant? In a way it's what helps drives them to the top of their sport.

That is a good question. Let's see what we have . . .

    Football
    * Tom Brady - super duper arrogant
    * Peyton Manning - arrogant with better media skills
    * Drew Brees - we may have a winner!

    Basketball
    * Hmm. I think everyone in the NBA is arrogant except for those that are crazy like Artest

    Hockey
    * Nicklaus Lidstrom - He is known as the "perfect human being" and is not arrogant
    * Alex Ovechkin - Poster boy for arrogant SOB's
    * Sidney Crosby - I think there is a picture of him making out with his mirror image.

    Baseball
    * All baseball players are a little arrogant but that probably has to do with the frat-boy mentality of the game

    Soccer
    * I don't watch much soccer but if the World Cup is an indicator then soccer is the hands-down winner as the most arrogant collection of athletes in the world.

Vick was rudely arrogant, like giving the fans the bird, his demeanor in interviews was just awful, that kind of thing.
I am sure there are others but I would say that most athletes are not like that.
In fact most are very humble appreciative people, who work hard and are thankful for their talents.

What's a black person? How is that defined?

Yes, there are crime problems in inner cities - but there are also crime problems in trailer parks and rural areas of the South too, and those are more heavily populated by white people. Saying "all black people support Michael Vick" because the crime rate in the inner city is high is about the same as me saying "all white people are racists who want all black people returned to Africa and all Latin-American people sent to Mexico" because that's how white people in rural Louisiana and Mississippi feel.

As for the criminal justice system numbers, the entire system seems biased against African Americans. The penalty for possession of weed, a predominantly white drug, is much less than that of crack, a predominantly black drug. I have quite a few black friends who have been pulled over by the cops for DWB. Seems to me they're being targeted. It seems as if you're much more likely to go to jail for crack possession than you are white collar crime (though I have zero evidence to back that up... it's simply how it appears to me).
And I listen for the voice inside my head... nothing. I'll do this one myself.
