From a personal note, I think I heard Ed Vedder say, right before they kicked in Lukin, "Does anyone know Mack Luka?" I may be wrong, but this could have been a reference to my newborn son (see former post and pictures on the side). I was too stunned to answer
sorry to burst your bubble. I wasn't there but I'd bet he said, "Does anybody know Matt Lukin?", mudhoney bassist whose kitchen that song is about...
Nice idea though. & a great name for a kid.
And according to Wikipedia:
He is the eponym of Pearl Jam's song "Lukin". Lead singer Eddie Vedder dedicated the band's 29 August 2006 performance of the song in De Gelredome, Arnhem to Lukin and his wife. In doing so, Vedder said that Lukin had married a Dutch woman, Manon, whom he met in the Tivoli Club in Utrecht, the Netherlands, and that the couple has been together in Seattle since. Vedder's dedication can be heard on that show's official bootleg recording.
I'm thinking it's a Netherlands thing since he mentioned him in 2006 because of the connection to Lukin's wife.
Great show, great day!! What a intense experience! Thank you TenClub and Ahoy' organistation for a terrific day! We stood in the frontrow on the right, my girlfriend being pregnant, but she managed bravely. We here given water during the show by the security! Very nice, thanks!!
Reign over me was over the top, what a song! Black, Last Exit, Wishlist! Man what a setlist.
The band was on fire! Realy like the way Eddie interacts with the crowd. When Mike played the solo in Even Flow, Eddie went to our side to smoke and the dry himself with a towel. Very funny!
Mike was in the grove, doing funny stuff with the audience. Jeff rocked hard during some song. Stone played and rocked like the old days, I like the haircut! Boom was in his own zone, playing with his eyes closed a lot. Matt played hard, like he always does.
We wanted to buy the poster, but right before me it sold out... Hope it will be on the goods page soon!
Have fun in Berlin, London and Manchester!

The morning after the show the sound is still going through my head. What a brilliant show it was, great setlist indeed. Mike was (again) doing his best to entertain the audiance(and he succeeded as usual). Eddy also enjoyed the show, same as Matt, Stone, Jeff and Boom!! \The Next show I'm again present and perhaps go to another show around The Netherlands..... If I stil have money left.
Excellent show with an, imo, lively PJ and superb crowd. Goosebumps all over a couple of times. Band seemed to enjoy themselves, jumping and moving all over the stage. Never seen them this active on stage! Too bad such a great night has to end sometime…
Absolutely amazing show ...
Very well organized, great setlist, lots of energy, great audience (really, never had so much space around while there was some gentle moshing and still great atmosphere), good interaction with band, good venue ... Man is next!
I would hate to crash everyone's party as I guess it is pure excitement that has lead to the posts, but I was really disappointed last night, not with the band, but the ten club members who all crammed into the front, and then do nothing but stand and watch as though they were watching a dvd.
This gig did not compare to Shepards bush a couple nights earlier.
The band were amazing, some of the sing alongs were good - but only in the very standard parts of each song. Hardly anyone sang to the new tracks the fixer and got some.
Set list was ok with some stand outs: Black for starters, animl, go, dissident, but what i would love he band to do is please drop even flow and alive from every gig, you guys have so much more on your catalogue that you can play. It is becoming a bit predictable which is something we never associate with Pearl Jam.
So to conclude, geat opening with Small town, last exit and animal into the fixer, but dissapointed by Ten Club who were very lame. I know you are al going to get very emotional about this and try to defend yourself, but I exprienced this with my own two eyes, I can only pray that Manchester and london are not the same.

Hopefully the come back sooner than the year and a half Eddie mentoined.
love your pics! great job. not al to sharp, but no problem at all, since the do capture the greatness of last nights show!! can't wait for them to get back!!!!!
We had standing tickets. 900 TenClubmembers, together with 600 early people. We all got wristbands to go in and out of our special segment in front (!)of the stage. TenClub did a great jod!
Very funny comment bij Ed, saying when they got out of the hotel to come to the Ahoy', they had not much time to meet and greet with fans in the street. There where two lines on the side of the street. They only shook some hands, he said. But when they where in the car, they realised the people they shaked hands with, where not fans but people standing in line waiting for the bus..
He said, that they must had thought what a nice guys they where.
Very funny!

does it mean there was a total of 1,500 people at the early entrance ? and who were the 600 non-te clubmembers ?
Agreed with you, 10C did a great job !

A security guy told us, 1500 in the segment, and 900 from TenClub. The early entrance was only for TenClubmembers. When we where inside, the 'normal' gates openend and the security would let 600 people extra in the segment. We from TenClub had pink wristbands, the others got blue ones from the security.

Easy. What they usually do in Holland is have a secured section directly in front of the stage. They open the section for TenClub-ticket-holders first and after 15 minutes open it for the people with normal tickets. Everyone who enters the section gets a wristband. At a certain number (apparently 1500 in this case) the max level of people allowed in the section is reached and they close of the section. People with a wristband can walk in and out of the section, but people without, aren't allowed to enter.

I don't know if you've been at the barrier at a PJ concert, but it's hard work. People are constantly trying to edge their way to the barrier and take your position, people pressed up pretty damn close that you can't move.
Seriously, when at the barrier, you can't even jump...it's THAT packed. So yeah, it does look like they're not doing anything....but I bet they were headbanging (all you can do at the barrier) like crazy.
