Release.
I love Long Road, but Release is just a religious experience.
Release.
This is the best friggin' opener and a wicked song.0 -
Release. End of discussion.0

Release is better indoors..... The generally echo-y indoor sound adds the perfect touch of ambiance.
Long Road is better outdoors.....And the winds are blowin....... section of lyrics gave me goosebumps when I heard it0 -

Touring Band 2000 sealed the deal for me as far as "Long Road" is concerned.
That was such a powerful and moving version -especially in the context of the 2000 tour- I still get emotional everytime I see it.
I love how during: "The Sun is Setting, The Sun Will Rise Another Day" part you can see Mike singing along with Eddie. It's definately a top 5 Pearl Jam moment and song for me.
Hope they open with "Long Road" in Toronto.
I love Release and Atlanta 94 is my favorite concert of all time (and I wasn't even there) but I agree with you about emotions with Long Road. The Sun is Setting, The Sun Will Rise Another Day is such a good line. Plus I think of what a great performance that Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn had with this movie. I think they do a great version of this song and Jeremy during a Red Rocks concert in the 90s.
I was just watching the boot today while I was shaving my head! Id have to go with Long Road cause I havent seen it live yet...0 -
I saw them open with Release last year at the Garden and for me that was a true spiritual experience.
No other opener comes even remotely close to the vibe that Release generates.

I would love to see Release open a show. I'm thinking that it really isn't a "festival" opener so not sure if it would open ACL, but that (as of right now) is the only PJ show I have scheduled.
I have seen Long Road- it opened my first pj show in Houston in 2000. Epic opener, mainly because I was finally seeing my favorite band ever live. Even more Epic, due to the circumstances the band had unfortunately endured with the tragedy of Roskilde 3.5. months earler. Really dark time for the band and others on that tour so I think Long road was pretty intense that tour.PJ: 10/14/00 06/09/03 10/4/09 11/15/13 11/16/13 10/08/14
EV Solo: 7/11/11 11/12/12 11/13/120
