well radio was broke so eddie put a little... never mind.

i guess im the only one that thinks this is funny :D
  • Starting with No Code, they have not had (going by what I think would be a standard industry comment) any success on the radio with new material. Maybe GtF and DtE off Yield, but they certainly weren't "Pearl Jam" successful, maybe successful for a small up and coming band.

The Fixer is the first single where there might actually be some growth from week 2 to 3 in a long, long, long, long time.
  • i have a feeling their next single will be bigger.

    thanks for the bone ;)
Further back and forth a wave will break on me, today...
  • You're most assuredly wrong ;)

Well I don't hate it. It's just a little too "adult contemporary" for my taste. And I'm sure it didn't help recruit any new fans. :o

It's funny, I actually have a friend who claims that "I Am Mine" is his favorite Pearl Jam song, and that it helped him obtain a new outlook on life, so I'd say the song has been a positive influence on people, even if it wasn't a smash hit.

Good lyrics, definitely. Not so wild about the tune though. Maybe "The Fixer" will have a similar effect.

I listen to the radio oh id say about an hour a week...Ive heard the song at least 10 times. Its always playing. Its good, best PJ music Ive heard since the Yield era (up for debate with maybe LBC or Save you), and it is much much better than the cock rock that its up against...So you lose.

for all the fixer doubters out there, just wait till you hear it live and you get to yell out, "fight to get it back again," that is some good stuff right there. V fest was amazing; especially the fixer and got some back-to-back. backspacer will be awesome.

i have heard the song once on the radio here in pittsburgh, and there is a rather large contingent of pj fans in this area so you would think it would be played more... hmmm...

I'm curious as to where you heard it?
the x played it once the day it was released

I admit I don't listen to the radio much but I have heard it quite often considering on 105.9 the X.
I really like the song and the X does play a decent amount of Pearl Jam.

Maybe if some of the DJ's like Tim Benz or Mark Madden shut their traps for more than 30 seconds and played a song or two we might hear that and other songs more often. They forgot to change the name when they changed the programing from alternative t osports.

Who knows maybe we will get lucky on this side of the state and Pearl Jam will come and close out our arena ;)

Just think of all the lonely housewives out there who were once fans back in the early nineties, maybe millions. When they see Ed and Jeff jamming with their shirts off on the Target commercial between their favorite daytime soaps, they are going to want to add some excitement back into their lives. They are going to hear a catchy song, and want rekindle their rebellious youth. They are going to want to be cool again. They are going to pick up the CD along with some bathroom towels and all-purpose cleaner on their next trip to Target.. They are going to want to get it back again. ;)
    Awesome post!

I'm a total Fixer hater but I think it'll be okay live.
