I'm glad there weren't many 'crowd' pleasers at this festival. After Summerfest '06, I promised myself not to see Pearl Jam in festival but after reading this setlist, I my reconsider.

do you expect them to play Lost Dogs in it's entirety or something? festival or not, PJ is going to play some of their "hits". i think they've earned that right, don't you?
I hope they play 3-6 more songs when they dont play festivals.
Berlin - 35 songs
41
"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
"..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”
To those who were asking about Mike's microphone - he sang back-up on numerous tunes.
 maybe someones practicing for their solo record
was Boom there? I don't see a mention
“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”
Great weather for a great festival show. I was orginally planning on getting close to the front and was for Wintersleep but when I seen the amount of drunken fools (who honestly did not know much about the band) filing in I decided to drop back about 10 feet and ended up with a better view and more enjoyable time.
Notes:
- The Pit was very rough I seen numerous older women leaving crying and some guys with their shirts ripped and lips bloodied. I guess that is what happens when people drink for 8 straight hours, but I am not complaining because I think the band enjoyed this energy from the crowd.
- Why Go was great to hear open the show and really got the place jumping.
- All Night was awesome to hear and they nailed it, my second favorite song performed last night....was unreal. Took me off guard.
- From The Fixer and Got Some I can tell that Backspacer will be 10x better than their last effort, these songs transferred over well live....plus for new songs they had the crowd really rocking....good thing.
- Severed Hand I had no idea how kick ass that song is live...
- Sad awesome enough said....
- Rats should be played live more....fucking amazing
- Ed commented how being so high up was really tough on getting some vocals out. However the band was in amazing spirts, Stone rocking the long hair (looked so young...lol) and I again re-iterate they seemed to enjoy the intense mosh pit.
- Best song of the night played was Brother....they fucking nailed it....I have video of the entire song....amazing....
- The Real Me was a surprise that is for sure....but great....
- Overall a great show....only mildly injured my shoulder as it broke the fall of a stray mosher as his head cracked it before he cracked his head into the ground.....our group never seen him coming and he looked pretty beat up.....
Also I noticed most the merchandise minus the stickers (which had a pack with "I saw Pearl Jam" and four coloured "Pearl Jam Built to Last" included) that the shirts were tailored for the Calgary show...most of the shirts had Calgary on it...the shirt I had was the stick man with Calgary above his head and they had a Pearl Jam logo tailored after the Calgary Flames logo as well with Calgary written on the back....poster looked cool cannot wait till I get it in the mail (seemed like there were lots of extra in booth after the show as well).
looks like Jeff managed to squeeze in some skate time in Strathmore before the show:
Alright, that's awesome. Jeff was also rockin' a pimpin' bass I'd never seen prior to yesterday; it was really, really big and decorated in black-and-white (although I didn't see Pearl Jam last year, so maybe it's old?).
Oh, and a couple more dork notes: one, Mike wasn't playing his usual "Even Flow" guitar, but rather a new Strat (same colour); two, the playout music was "Lost in the Supermarket" by the Clash.
Minneapolis 1998 | Jones Beach I & II, Montreal, and Toronto 2000 | Buffalo, State College, Toronto, Montreal and Hershey 2003 | Boston I & II 2004 | Thunder Bay, Kitchener, London, Hamilton, Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto 2005 | Toronto I & II 2006 | The Vic and Lollapalooza 2007 | Calgary and Toronto 2009 | PJ20 I & II, Toronto I & II, Ottawa, Calgary and Edmonton 2011 | London, Chicago, Spokane, Calgary, Vancouver and Seattle 2013 | Ottawa and Toronto I & II 2016 | Chicago I & II 2018 | Ottawa, Hamilton and Toronto 2022
I geeked out on the bands guitars as well, and noticed Mike playing that Strat on Evenflow. It has a maple neck instead of rosewood, and I'm guessing it's vintage as well. Mike's tone was awesome, notably on the Black solo. WOW. Also on YL. He was on fire. Jeff's black and white (or silver?) checker pattern bass was HOT. Stone was rockin a guitar I haven't seen before as well, a coral pink strat with lots of wear. He played it on the new songs.
Here's my fan view: Holy crap! I was up and the front all day, and with each band the crowd got progressively more intense. We got a solid setlist, and you could really tell the band was enjoying playing to such a lively and huge crowd. I looked back a couple times and all I saw was a sea of people. I'm glad I got to hear Severed Hand, that song kicks so much ass live. The crowd was really rockin to Down as well.
Eddie remarked that the COP management said they could go over curfew, and that he thought it wasn't because of PJ or their organization but because of how well the crowd was handling themselves. You could tell he was struck by how intense yet controlled the crowd was. Props to the security guys who helped all those crowd surfers and gave us much need water.
This will be my only PJ show for a while, and that's OK because of how awesome it was. I know over the next couple of days more memories will come back, but for now it can be pretty much summed up by saying the crowd was the best, the band seemed happier than ever, and the music was pretty much perfect.
Second show I've been to, and it was even better than the last one. Cooler yet for me was that this was the first concert for my one year old daughter.
was Ed drunk? The video of Brother he looks like/sounds like he is slurring and staggering drunk
He seemed pretty pinned last night to say the least but was in amazing spirts...the energy last night was infectious.....finished his wine first set then proceeded into the Corono and Grasshopper's (one of which he dumped all over himself....lol).
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
