For Your Information Kat & Fans ...

First, let me apologize for my rude behavior to Kat
and the rest of the fans.
I'd like to set the record straight...
I have been a fan of Pearl Jam since Day 1. I was a member
of the 10 Club when it was free. I have been a friend of Eddie's since October of 1993 and
I was one of the first members of the 10 Club to be exact. I lost my place in line because for many
years I felt that it didn't make sense to pay to be a fan.
It was only until recently that I decided to re-enlist in the 10 Club
in order to participate in the ticket pre-sales.
I make very few posts in this forum. One of them was to vent
my frustration with the opening act. Looking back it may have been in bad taste but
I am still a fan. If you were to read back on the post which is now locked, you will see that
the first ill will was directed at me personally and I reacted in a childish fashion.
It's difficult to see the good in people when the first time you voice a complaint, someone
creeps out of the darkness and tramples over you.
If I am locked out of this site, the tribe will have spoken.
It seems as though I'm going against the grain here. Again,
with the history that I have with this band, I've felt as though I had the right.
Getting back to the original point, I know some of you deep down, have to feel
the same as I do. What ever happened to affordable ticket prices ? 10 Club tickets
do not ensure you have good seats. The same fan base show after show, are in the front row.
For an $81 ticket, as a consumer, I would expect
to see a better opening act than Ted Leo. It's obvious that one band is making a boatload
of cash and the other is just along for the ride. I'm not saying it's wrong. I'm only saying that I'm
surprised and disappointed because I expected more from the best band in the world.
How many Pearl Jam fans have gone to a Ted Leo concert ?
Make no mistake, Pearl Jam is the best band in the world. I guess
that I only wish they'd see it my way.
For what it's worth, I digress.
I'm sorry to those who I offended, it's a mistake for which I wish I hadn't made.
and the rest of the fans.

It Makes Much More Sense.........To Live in the Present Tense.
Could you mention to Ed that I'd like to hear Bugs in LA?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Was a joke................, and Bugs would not be my first choice..... but would love to hear it.
Would be killer fun.
P.S. Sorry for PMing you this post instead of posting it..... Saw Phish last night and still a bit whipped.
I know sometimes when you start a thread, members seem to be a little rude if they don´t agree with what you are expressing. If this would be a live forum and whe could see each other in person, I bet half the people would not even speak out and reply in a way they would fear a punch in tha face!
I have experienced that before. (when I questioned the remixing of ten). I just ignore. But you did post back answering him and apparantly PM him. That´s the way you are. Who is to blame you. But this is actually a private forum, so you must go by the rules.
I just hope this problem makes people understand that if we want to reply, to do it in a respectful way. Avoid offensive sarcasm or to be an annoying smart ass. I for one have a very good sense of humor, but others are not that way.
I hope no one got in trouble for this.
I disagree with feeling entitled to a better opening band for $81 - frankly, no opening band would be fine with me for the same price - however, this is a discussion board, not a dictatorship, and it would be one crappy discussion board at that if we all shared one opinion on every topic. I saw, and disliked, Ted Leo twice at Madison Square Garden opening for Pearl Jam last year, and will be at the show out of respect for them in Toronto. I hope you can swallow your pride THAT much, and help make sure these poor guys aren't out there playing to a quarter-full venue, with zero energy... if no one's there, and no one's excited about them, frankly, it's our communal fault for setting these guys up for failure.

I've seen Phish and Pearl Jam each around twenty times..... I think last night was my 26th show. (yup... just checked)
Pearl Jam is on top for me by a lot, but Phish is so amazing live. It is amazing what those guys can do on stage, playing off each other, getting into a zen style of jam, feeling each others moods and subtle shifts.
The 8 festival for Halloween will be crazy. The whole scene is a bit much, but when I'm there I just slide into it like a broken in pair of jeans.
Got to get my Hacky sack groove on.
as for ted leo, well i made my point in the original post, just stay outside if you are not a fan. They are no doubt a hard working band, and deserve there chance at a support slot. Pearl jam thinks so anyway
I wave to all my Friends... Yeah!
On your actual topic of opening bands, I understand. I have rarely ever been really happy to see an opening band. They are really there just to warm the crowd up.
Now, having said that....I couldn't be more excited about Ben Harper openign up for PJ in Seattle....that will be the best opening act I could ask for with the exception of maybe Temple of the Dog.
I believe one band tried to fight this in the '90s and were flamed for it. Can't seem to remember who though...
Sure....I'm sure he has many real-life friends who complain about locked threads, ticket prices, and opening bands on the message board

It's called inflation, but dont get me wrong the feeling is mutual. :?
Dude! I'd hate to see your dissapointment paying $239USD a pair to attend a Australia Stadium show then?!?!?!?
Are you implying that he was being sarcastic and that flew over my head? Or are you implying that he's wacky for implying that Eddie is his friend?

sorry that was confusing.
want to be enlightened"
that's what I figured but I wanted to be sure. Yeah, this guy's lost it. "I have been friends with Eddie since October 1993" Yeah? Well why don't you go over his house and tell him that you don't like Ted Leo and that they lock threads on the message board.

You start off your apology by "setting the record straight," which is you telling us you're were a ten club member back in the day and "friends" with Eddie Vedder.
You then regret the words you chose to respond to someone else, but maintain that you were attacked first.
After that little bit of remorse, you use your apology to revisit your original complaint.
If you've been a fan since the beginning and let's assume you were at least 12 years old in 1990, you'd still be at least 30, if not 31 today. Hopefully, by the time you're 30, you have learned how to respond to someone who attacks you without resorting to slurs of any kind.
Since you did respond inappropriately, here's how you apologize:
"Dear , I am sorry I used a homophobic slur to attack you. I recognize that it is inappropriate in any setting to call someone what I called you. I deeply regret it and hope you can forgive me."
Oh, and you apologize because you actually believe you were wrong, not because the board administrator might kick you off for your actions. Otherwise, it just ruins the sincerity of it all.
Where I'm not ugly and you're lookin' at me
One of the reasons I got tired of it is because I complained on the message boards about other 10c members ruining my night at the Spectrum in 2003. I got ripped apart on the boards because I couldn't see the show.
The other point I agree with is That 10c members don't always get the best seats. At the EV show in Baltimore I was 4 rows from the back of the theatre and I was next to a pissed off 10c member. At Viriginia Beach '08 I bought my tix on TM or LiveNation and was right in the middle of the 10c members. They were actually the best seats I've ever had for a PJ show outside of GA tix.
How so?

I'm OK with different opinions than mine...but when I differed from the 10c masses-- a group that used to pride itself on acceptance of outside ideas--I got (verbally) beat up over it. It didn't make me lose any respect for my favorite band but it kind of took a little wind out of the 10c's sails for me.
