I can definately see the Randalls Island shows being part of these vault releases. As far as the other requested ones in this thread (Soldier Field, Atlanta 94, Melbourne 95 etc..) they are already available for download just gotta hunt em down and they all sound great already. As far as the Boston Orpheum show I could see that one being offered also because of the test download of Rats a few years back, otherwise that recording is pretty good as it is right now.
funny that most of the requested live shows on this thread ARE indeed available out there....
And there are good recordings out there of those shows
I'm expecting these vault shows to be the more popular shows like randalls island 96 or seattle 00 or state college. This isn't geared to us "die hard" fans. Its more so for bringing in new fans to the mix.
I hate to argue but there is no way any of the Vault shows will be shows that were previously released as official boots by the band..
It is just counterintuitive to the Vault concept 'nuf said..
As far as there being version "out there" of some of the shows I requested and other people suggested, I agree..
But we are talking Soundboards baby.. soundboards...!
Its a bootlleg collectors thing.. you wouldn't understand unless you were a fanatic like many of us...
Yes I'm a huge bootleg collector. My 80 gig ipod classic is bout 50% of nothing but pj shows and ed solo shows from this year and last year. I don't really care for soundboard. I just take what I can get.
I'm looking at these vault shows from pj standpoint. There doing this to bring in more new fans, not for bootlegs collectors. You make a very good point and I agree with you but pj won't see that way. They see this as a way to make more money by bringing in new fans and younger fans.
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight
Sammi: Wanna just break up?
Some people are really wimpy when it comes to foul language, slurs and insults. They're just words. Get over it!
i guess i just feel like if someone posted something about "being 'jewed' out of something" or mentioned 'CP time', or anything to that effect using any other slur (no matter what the intention  ), there would be a lot less people defending it.
You're right. Probably because they're completely different. Please tell me how one could use the term "being jewed out of something" without basing it on an offensive stereotype of jews. It's not because the word "jew" is inherently offensive, it's the context. So you're just proving my point.
And I have no idea what the hell CP Time is so I can't comment on that.
Again, the modern euphemistic use of "gay" doesn't imply anything about homosexuality. Unless you happen to think that all gay people are lame, if so that's your problem. Just because your personal dictionary only has one definition doesn't make it so.
and this better be something were allowed to share... the only album ive ever considered buying multiple copies of is no code - for the different pictures in each set

i guess we just disagree on the fundamental premise ::shrugs::.
i personally believe that using 'gay' in any context as a way to express something negative is a slur. i don't see how widening the definition to include anything that is 'lame', 'stupid' or 'less-than' is a positive thing. i think it reflects and reinforces a particular power structure that i find distressing where there is straight/gay, good/bad.

The thing about the Vic, if you were there, you probably love this show. Adore it like you adore your mom.
But, if you weren't there, well, it wasn't that much better than other shows. And many folks weren't there.
I actually deleted it of my Ipod.

This thread has been jewed out of its true purpose by all this faggy talk about language. What are you people a bunch of dumb polaks? Read the thread title! If you can, you greasy alien! Or do you need it in spanish? Go back to your country!
I'm taking my Mc-ass passed the negro street people and savage alcoholics down to the bar so I can deal with the stress of having to not make anyone uncomfortable. Then to church where I'll pray to my jew savior to eliminate all turbans from the planet.

Sorry to the OP that we have hijacked this post, but I find this shit infinitely fascinating. And yes, I guess we just fundamentally disagree. I really and truly just don't understand how a certain word can ever somehow outweigh the context in which it is used. It's not like words existed before us, we created them. We can use them however we want. You say it "reinforces a power structure" but that's only because you allow it to. Words don't own us, we own words. I'm not trying to say words can't hurt, I'm just saying that it's not the word itself, it's how it's used. Take the mother of all taboo words, the "n" word (I'll respect the word police for a bit and not actually type it - and yes I realize I'm being a tad hypocritical, but I'm really not trying to rock the boat here). Do you mean to tell me there's no difference between, say, going into a crowded room and shouting just that word and nothing else, and going up to a black man and saying, "You're a dumb, lazy n____." Surely you don't believe this?
This is why George Carlin was one of my favorite comics. He was brilliant at dissecting the bizarre way in which the politically correct assign arbitrary "good" or "bad" labels to a word.

"I'd like to begin by saying fuck Lance Armstrong. Fuck him and his balls and his bicycles and his steroids and his yellow shirts and the dumb empty expression on his face. I'm tired of that asshole. And while you're at it, fuck Tiger Woods too! There's another jackoff I can do without. I'm tired of being told who to admire in this country. Aren't you? Aren't you sick of being told who your heroes ought to be? Being told who you ought to look up to. I'll choose my own heroes, thank you very much. And fuck Dr. Phil too! Dr. Phil said I should express my emotions, so that’s what I’m doing!"
I think this bit is one of the funniest I have heard. Some of Hedbergs are great too, but this might be my favorite.

With regards to the (sub)topic at hand, it's hard to beat the Seven Dirty Words bit. Or, for the squeamish, at least check out his bit on how airlines completely misuse the english language (Get on the plane! Fuck you, I'm getting in the plane!" or how the pilot welcomes you to wherever you've just landed even though he just got there too. "What are you, the mayor?!") He really was brilliant.

i loooove george carlin! and i guess i've never thought of myself as politically correct ( ). i agree, context can have a big impact on meaning, but i also think certain words have a history and legacy that are too great for an outsider to redefine or reclaim. i am white, and i am straight... so i will not use 'gay' to mean stupid and i will not use the 'n-word' in any context, even though people could argue that both those words have alternate meanings. they are not my words to contextualize, and any attempt for me to use them with an alternate meaning would just be me reinforcing my position of privilege.... you know? it's not about "saying the right thing" or going overboard trying not to offend someone... it's more about not hurting anyone when it could easily be avoided, no matter what the original intention.
and i agree, this is fascinating. sorry to everyone who just wanted to talk about the vault.
gay used to mean happy... fag used to be the wood used for burning witches... bitch used to be a female dog
i dont want to get involved in the debate (mainly cause its WILDLY off topic) but come on folks... words have to adapt and they will regardless of how many people get their panties in a wad... my LGBT friends are pretty split on the issue anyway... we can probably all agree anything that hurts alot of peoples feelings isnt worth doing - but those that think rationally also know that how people are using that word is not meant to belittle homosexuals in general... and if my experience with young students suggest anything - that words not going away anytime soon :?

So what are your thoughts on saying something "sucks." I think this is the perfect example of how we could eventually take the stigma out of the word "gay" itself. Because sucks basically has the same entomology, but no one really thinks any more that if you say something sucks you're implying something negative about homosexuality.
At least we can agree Carlin rocks.
For the record, it is not ok here to use the word "gay" as a slam. It's negative and unnecessary and it is bigoted. Any bigoted terms are not ok here. Do not do it.
