Clinton springs the dumbass journalists from N Korea. Why did people hate this guy?

I'd take "Slick Willie" over Dipshit Dubya any day. Dubya couldn't negotiate his way out of a U turn. Way to go Bill. No matter how much you hate the guy, he was a gifted speaker and negotiator, and he didn't become a Rhodes Scholar using the good ol' boy system.0

oh yeah, someone said in this thread that clinton's presidency was irrelevent
do you really think actions he may have taken during his presidency had anything directly to do with what he did today? seriously. just be glad he did not pull a carter in this situation.
Figures. I can predict with 100% accuracy I'm going to recieve when I respond. that's right - It was ME that said Bill Clinton had an irrelevent presidency. I had to endure him for 8 years - just like you did with GW. Pay-back can be such a bitch. Whatever. Yeah - Bill Clinton is a real Hero. And Jimmy Carter (are you even old enough to remember HIS presidency...what a hack). It's completely obvious which way you lean. I have a few "Habit for Humanity houses in our neighborhood. Now our house isn't worth shit. Yeah.
North Korea is a spoiled child that needs a good spanking.....not a real threat...right now. So here's a really great idea- let's send irrelevent Bill Clinton there (per Al Gore....Peace recipient achievement for the false global warming thing - even though his own personal carbon footprint exceeds the majority - HYPOCRITE! ) He Sucks Leftist propaganda....and laughs at all of you Leftist....just for his own sick agenda. You all are a JOKE to him..... Fuck North Korea. And if any stupid journalists "accidently" cross over there again - then they deserve the full force of North Korean Law. North Korea is a Communistic country. Bill Clinton is just trying to remain relevent. He should never have went. The question is - what did he give them in return? I think we are entitled to that information.
You know what really sucks? You're stuck with a black democrat president until 2017. Doesn't that just burn your hide?0 -
Some guy I work with (who I rarely agree with) called the whole thing a publicity stunt. I'm not talking about the women being arrested-- that was very real, but how the whole thing played out with Clinton going over there to free them. He believes that it was all worked out weeks ago, and that they wanted to slap a public figure on it all to make a big deal out of actual "relations" (pun intended?) between the US and North Korea. Maybe he's right? I mean, how did Slick Willy actually do it-- what did he actually do or say to get these people freed?0

Ask Drifting about Rhodes Scholarship, and he'll tell you that it's just a completely different type of "good ol' boy" system.0 -

It's obvious that the release was worked out ahead of time... The US wouldn't risk sending a former president over there just to come back empty handed.
There was a lot of diplomacy put into this, who knows what role Bill Clinton played in it, but him going over there gave North Korea some attention, and probably went a ways to improve diplomacy between the US and NK.My whole life

This is one of the actual changes that I expect out of this administration and little else-- not that I feel that Barry O. is fundamentally different than W. at all with foreign policy, although this thing here with North Korea might be a step in the right direction. I just feel he's able to pull off pushing the American Empire with more effetiveness than W. because he's just not a cowboy. It's a different, but less offensive type of arrogance that our leaders are showing under Barry than W.0 -
And did you know that we have just 5 countries left without a Rothschild controlled central bank-
Iran, North Korea, Suda, Cuba & Libya.
Wonder where the next war will be cause that is how they do it
I don't believe any of this shit0 -
Big Bill always had a way with the ladies.....
These 2 ladies are very lucky they didnt spend the next 10-15 years in a labor camp.
But now they will write their books, appear on Oprah, and make their millions.....Take me piece by piece.....
Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....0 -

I agree...that's whay I meant by my earlier post. Not to take anything away from anyone involved, Bill may have played a key role in the negotiations behind the scene. A bit surprised that he was the one chosen for the photo op...I wonder what's behind that? Kim Jong Il too good for Hillary?Post edited by cincybearcat onhippiemom = goodness0 -

"Bill Clinton undertook the mission, a senior administration official said, only after the North assured the White House that the reporters would be freed and allowed to return home with the former president.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to detail the back-channel negotiations, also said the north rejected Gore as a suitable emissary. The journalists' families, Gore and the White House then turned to Clinton. The official said President Barack Obama did not speak with Clinton about the mission.
Daniel Sneider, associate director of research at Stanford University's Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center, said the journalists' release followed weeks of quiet negotiations between the State Department and the North Korean mission to the United Nations.
Clinton "didn't go to negotiate this, he went to reap the fruits of the negotiation," Sneider said."hippiemom = goodness0 -
