Okay, this may be totally insane but here's what I was thinking on the drive home this evening. What if Backspacer is just an album for some of the "extra music" that the band had left over after after Avocado? was put to bed? Remember them saying there was enough for two albums?
And just maybe the tour NEXT year is for a 20th Anniversay CD with all brand new music???????
It makes sense when you think of the short tour they're doing now and the short length of the CD. For their 20th Anniversary I would think they'd want to put out a super special CD and do a full-blown tour (maybe?)
Whaddya think? Absolutely out of the question? Or a possibility?
i dont know that they would sit on a dozen "super special" songs from this recording session and release a brief collection of b-sides (backspacer) only to have something better to release for an anniversary... as much as they have come to terms with their history and the nostalgia that comes with it... just feels like a bit of a stretch IMO... atleast i would hope were getting the best thats available ASAP... im sure they would be incredible eager to unveil the best of the best on this tour if that were the case
you might be onto something though... probably a short EP next year... songs of a similar quality to backspacer that maybe didnt fit the overall theme of this one...
just dont think it has to be "super special" just cause of the anniversary... when have PJ been that conscious of a logical, fan friendly time frame? :P
SOMETHING IN 2010 PLEASE!
Yeah, good point. On the other hand, who would have EVER thought they'd hook up with Target????
