Curtis says the plan for 2010 touring is still coming together and that the band is deciding whether to play outdoor amphitheaters or arenas, which it prefers.

be ready folks, it's all happening!

    thanks, d2d!

    I'd much prefer inside for selfish reasons - it keeps more sounds inside. :oops:

    I kinda had a feeling they might! :)

    I told hubby they might come to Detroit and he said nooooo, not here...too depressing!

    rather go out of state....but $$$.... I'd love it if they would plan on playing San Diego or LA again - I haqve a very special reason to go there!!

    Imagine I bought SD tickets but now I can't go... pfft. But that's ok.... I just hope they can do it again next year! :twisted:

    I'm hoping some non-Toronto Ontario venues get some shows.. upstate NY would work for me too! Otherwise, I just have to hope wherever they play is post-school. In any case - I'll see some of you this year, and I hope to see more of you next year :mrgreen:

    erm, why not both? outdoors in some cities .. arenas in others ..
  • erm, probably because you would need an entirely different set, lighting, sound, etc....

    yeah because it was so hard last year when they played MSG(an arena) and then the next night Dodge music center in Hartford(an amphitheater)
    {if (work != 0) {
    work = work + 1;
    sleep = sleep - work * 10;}
    else if (work >= 0) {
    reality.equals(false);
    work = work +1;
    }system("pause");
    return 0;}
  • haven't they been doing both types of venues pretty much every tour??

    The only ones that have a shot (IMO) are London and Ottawa. Ottawa didn't sell out in '05 so I wouldn't be surprised to not see them return there ever again. As for London, it is becoming a VERY popular stop over the past few years. It may only hold around 8k-10k people, but it is located perfectly between Toronto and Detroit and every show there seems to sell out. I'd love to see them return to London in 2010, but I won't hold my breath...

    If they do a full(er) tour in 2010, then Toronto has a good shot at another show. Maybe the ACC.

    I remember when a band member told me about a specific tour that was going to happen in 2008, guess what? It didn't happen. It was cancelled. Dont get too excited people.

    They haven't done a HUGE tour in quite some time.

    In 2000, they released 73 bootlegs. In 2003, they did something similar. It seems like recent tours have been one coast, but not the entire country.

    Just to set the record straight.

    None of the show up until Seattle are for the Backspacer tour.

    That is a completely separate mini tour, much like the 2008 East Coast tour.

    The 2009/2010 Backspacer tour is hitting 5 cities thus far in the US and a full Australia/New Zealand Leg.

    Seattle
    Los Angeles
    San Diego
    Austin
    Philly.

    With or without band confirmation (and yes it is better that we got it), it seems obvious that 2010 will be a normal type tour.

    I would guess The East Coast, West/Mid West, South, and probably a few West Coast shows (Santa Barbara, maybe Sacramento, Shoreline, maybe even a Fresno).

    Then I would guess some foreign countries, perhaps Mexico/South America/Canada, and Europe.

    Could be wrong, but pretty sure 5 cities in the USA, and the Oceana leg does not constitute the entirety of the Backspacer promo tour.

    Erm ... they've played both on pretty much every tour they've ever done ... so, I'm thinking it can be done. Just a hunch. Erm.

    Great point. Pretty much exactly what I was thinking, just didn't realize it's already been done. :D

    This might sound weird, but for a variety of reasons, if Kelly Curtis say's it, I believe it to be way more legit than if a band member says it. Did you listen to some of these recent interviews where Stone and Mike didn't know when the album was coming out, or didn't seem to quite know the tour schedule? Kelly knows what he is talking about.

    Also, I just want to point out that when the interview first came out in January where Ed said they wouldn't be touring next year, I said from the very beginning that the had to have been a misquote or misunderstanding. And I don't care where they play, inside or out, as long as it is close to me.
    words seem so out of place.
