Got that. Sounds like a great deal!

EDIT: Is this cause they are having trouble selling tickets or is this just a normal Ten Club type offer?

Don't you mean Canadians? We have our hands full out West trying to sell out L.A., SD, and Outside lands.

I wish I could go, but traveling with a family of 4 is not an option. Even if the ticket prices are a steal.

Must be having trouble selling tickets to this one. I wish it was some place closer to where I live.

  • Sucks for all of us who got regular priced tickets. I guess with only a week to go that is most of us who are going. On the bright side maybe this means there aren't that many people going making it easier to get closer to the band.

Although appreciative of 10c offering up cheaper tickets, it's a little dissappointing to say the least, that they waited until now to make up this offer after purchasing 8 tickets at full price. :( I mean, logically, what PJ fan doesn't already have a ticket for a show that's a week away?

Yeah that is really a bummer for those who already bought tickets.

I'm sure the Ten Club wasn't holding back, and the promoters of the show are trying to sell this show desperately at the end.

That is sad that it isn't the draw they hoped for initially.
  • 1. I'm sure 10C was only just offered this deal for whatever reason.

    2. Doesn't posting this here eliminate it being only for 10C members since anyone can read the board and now has the link and password?

when you sign onto a festival lineup of nobodies you run the risk of low attendance

hope this offer prompts more sales and PJ puts on a great show... but i cant say im surprised

This infuriates me and it is something that has only happened in the past few years.

Why should the people that buy the tickets first be punished because the show isn't selling well. I called a promoter in Sydney last year because tickets I had bought to a show went to half price and I had paid a fortune.

When a show doesn't sell well, there are two options as far as I am concerned:

    1. Cancel (which is shit for the fans).
    2. Change to a smaller venue (which rewards the fans that bought their tickets early).

    Rant over.

    agreed

cant blame the promoters though... theres no refunds on tickets or legal reason for them to reimburse the difference to earlier ticketholders and those ticketholders still get the same show they were expecting in the first place for a price they were originally ok with paying

not a position ive ever been in but it definitely sucks for everyone who has

  • I hadn't even seen the line-up before now. What shit. Pearl Jam sticks out like a sore thumb amongst all those other acts. No wonder they can't move enough tickets. I hope PJ is getting a big cut to play that.

  • Add me to the list that bought a ticket as early as possible, and now this. Oh well, it'll be my first time seeing PJ, and I couldn't care too much either way. I'm sure it'll be worth it either way!

As for the other acts, ya, not much there. Billy Talent would be cool to see, but other than that, nothing too exciting.

Wow. I had other commitments that didn't allow me to make it, but those commitments fell apart today. Anybody want to go in on purchasing a set of 4 and splitting them?

The promoters can change the venue though. The ticket company just sells the tickets.

I only needed two tickets so this deal wouldn't work out very well. I'm trekking down from Edmonton, but I know other people who didn't want to go, because they thought PJ would get a short set.. and didn't want to pay the expensive price, only to see PJ to a short set.

I'm hoping its the opposite, that everyone is only there for Pearl Jam, so they play a full set.

If its not selling out there must be more than the 15k tickets someone originally though. They sold out the saddledome and rexall place in 05.

  • And here I bought VIP Passes... hindsight man! I figured (and hoped) that they might announce a decent band for Sunday to justify my price paid on the VIP tickets. What really sucks is that I am already left with 2 extra regular weekend passes from friends that bailed on me. Good luck getting any of my money back on those! If anyone wants them I will offer them to you at the same price that you can get them now ($111.00 each after fees etc for the full weekend) msg me if interested. Had I known that this would have been offered up I would have waited on buying tickets for friends for sure. I was honestly somewhat concerned that Saturday might sell out, but apparently you can't charge that much money to see a bunch of nobodies and one amazing band in the midst of economic uncertainty. I know alot of people that would have loved to have gone but just can't afford it now and to justify that type of price (weekend passes came out to $152+ each after ticketbastard added all their shit fees on) to see a potentailly very short set (I hear Calgary is strict on their sound bylaws - I hope PJ tells them to shove it!) from Pearl Jam. I am going with the 'they're already paid for' strategy on my tickets to avoid being supremely pissed off by the line-up... but it's not likely that I will attend V-fest again without Pearl Jam in the line-up.

  • The V-fest in Vancouver was also discounted closer to the day, as was another recent show (don't recall which).

The logistics of changing venues on shows of this size, and being more than a single day, would be nearly impossible, I would think. It's one thing to change a single nightclub show to a theatre or vice-versa, with the new venue being available, but to move a whole festival that has been in the planning stages for months is a whole other animal altogether.

It sucks, and hopefully they'll quickly add some more worthwhile groups before the day for those going, but this isn't a band or 10C issue.
There's a lot to be said for nowhere...

No different than if you buy say, a pair of boots, full price and then it's in the sales a couple of weeks later. It's the risk one takes... wait and maybe get a good deal or wait and get nothing in the end.
  • If the boots that I just bought go on sale.. I buy them and then immediately return them using the old (non sale) receipt. Problem solved. ;)

  • "Other bands slated to rock out before they clock out in Calgary include Billy Talent, Metric, Tokyo Police Club, K-OS, Arkells, Mother Mother, Thunderheist, The Cliks, White Lies and Shout Out Out Out Out. "

That would explain why ticket sales are sluggish
