sorry, i'm on an EEEPC and the screen is too small to get a decent map look...

compare newton rd, which links to symonds st and queen st. queen st is the.. main, main, main area of the auckland CBD.

you can see the sky tower pretty close by from newton 121. the green is killing me, but eh, it's clean, not that expensive and quite comfy. we fell asleep on the couch watching spongebob. good times. plus there's a servo right across the road if you have the munchies.

its not that interesting.. they have a small service type lift and it has a big sign on the wall that says you can't have anything on the floor of it outside of the black square.

my bag was on the my foot when the lift started but part of it shfited and was touching the black bit so the thing wouldn't move and wouldn't open. we were calling out "uh.. stuck? help!?" and then about 5 minutes and it being really fucking hot (we'd just driven 10.5 hours and it was HOT there) we realised and moved the bag, the elevator started... and we vowed never to tell.

ALSO< we were going to cat power which was at the powerstation.. which is on mt eden rd... which is off symonds st. we didn't know this and got a taxi which drove around several blocks to get there... got out of the taxi.. looked up... saw the restaurant on the corner of newton rd and symonds... felt very ripped off.

so don't use auckland co-op tax company.... the newton 121 owners told us when we told them they'd have stopped us if we'd mentioned it. they were lovely.

Ive looked at the Newton....is it this joint? And how far a walk to CBD?
    http://www.newton121.co.nz/

Zenith, Zig, Jim, Oz..... $104 each night for 1 x queen 2 single and we can get a rollout bed again??

    https://www.thebookingbutton.com.au/pub ... N121DIRECT

If doompony says location is good this could be the go I reckon

Looks good! Those rates are for 2 people and you have to add on $20 NZ for each extra person. So it's $164 NZ.....$132 AU -- $26.50 AU each per night -- What a fucking BARGAIN! 8-)

    Good work DonJon and doompony!

No....on the rates page you can click on "more info" or something like that under each room type...and on that page it says it's for 2 people + $20 each extra person.

Newton is alright, but it's a bit out of the action. Why not stay right in the city? I mean it's close-ish to K Rd, if that's your scene but there's heaps more stuff down in town.

What about here: http://www.chifleysuitesauckland.co.nz/ They have 2 bedroom suites, sleep 4. Deluxe suite = NZD$205. It's right in the CBD, so a short walk to the train station, if you take the train to the gig.

I drive there, but you have to get there pretty early, or walk a distance and there's always the chance your car will be broken into ;)
