why havent they released the entire list? I have heard about this list for years. Release it, expose the cheaters. Lets punish them. Clean up the sport and move on.
How stupid is the MLB? Its such a sham. Their records are all held now by cheaters. No one takes Bonds' record as legitimate. Hank Aaron sure as hell doesnt.
Bonds is a joke, a leech and parasite.
I think the MLB is alot like the record industry. A bunch of clueless people who think fining people is going to do the trick.
You have to clean out the entire sport. The MLB knew Sosa and Mcguire and others were doping and they knew Bonds was as well. But nothing was done. During that great home run race of 1997 or 1998 EVERYONE was following it. Baseball fans and non baseball fans. So the MLB looked the other way, even thoiugh it knew Sosa and Mcguire and hundreds of others were on steroids.
punish them? the list was supposed to be destroyed and kept secret... the asshole who didnt destroy is single handedly ruining the game.
btw, you're post is dumb... if you wanna single out those three then i suggest you single out everyone.
I will be what i could be
Once I get out of this town
Thats why I hate Bonds to such a degree. He is scum. Worthless as a human being.

Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight
Sammi: Wanna just break up?
I also think singling out bonds is appropriate because of how everyone acted when he "broke the record". Or "marred the record".
People acted like this was some huge deal. Like we should all stop in awe and wonderment, "wow someone really broke Aaron's record".
Ben Harper even talked about how special it felt to be at the stadium that day, seeing Bonds "break the record".
People continued and continue to this day to treat bonds like he is some kind of hero, that he actually did break that record.
I am all for bad mouthing steroid users but all steroid users deserve to be bad mouthed, not just Mcguire.
Mcguire was thrown under the bus. It seems like the entire MLB roster for the last 10-15 years has taken steroids, with the exception of Ken Griffey Jr.
MLB created the mess. What it should have done as Bonds got "closer" to the record was to come out and say "bonds is a cheater and we dont recognize his numbers". Instead that put the crown on him and rolled out the red carpet.
Any press for sports is good press to these people. If players are doping but bringing fans into the fold and games are selling out, why mess with a good thing? Why expose the sport for what it is? Why risk shame and embarassment and millions of potential revenue?
You talk about innocent until proven guilty, has Barry Bonds been proven guilty, or are you just assuming things?

keep in mind, the Times owns a stake in The Red Sox, so it's doubtful this isn't 1000% accurate
So what this is getting ridiculous how this is being milked and someone needs to step forward and put an end to it. That someone has to be Bud *effing* Selig and lay this to rest as it continues to make a mockery of the game. Either release the list or shut it down for good.
BTW if at the time this test was done how does the players know which or what substances were illegal at the time? I can see if they took something when specific substances became illegal after 2004 but if you don't know, you don't know. On another note the O's game today was great in that Camden Yards was packed with kids from camps from all over MD.
Put an end to this so the game can breathe again.

that, "the substances werent banned then" excuse is such a cop out. Its pretty clear if you are ingesting or being injected with substances that help you perform out on the field better, you are doing something wrong. Forget what was banned by the MLB. Morally. Ethically. This goes for all of them who took steroids.
There never was a pang of conscience in these guys, when being injected with some substance, that "hey maybe this is wrong"?
Again, for me, the wrong isnt necessarily the steroids, although yes those are wrong and bad, reguardless of what that idiot posted about steroids not being harmful a few posts back.
With the exception of A Rod, no one of the list has come out and said they have done anything. What I dont get is, if you took steroids and failed your test, I think you know if you are on the list or not.
Selig and the MLB at large are guilty of alot of things, but to blame them or the NY Times for slow leaking a few names at a time? Uh uh. I dont buy it. The players themselves owe the american public and the MLB and the fans and in the cases of people who testified in trials or in front of congress, they owe authorities and police, an apology and need to tell us that they are on the list.
Either you are one of these 100 plus players or you are not. If you are not, fine, lets move on. But lets not play this game of, "I am not gonna say anything, and am just gonna hide until this list, that will be made public in full soon, is published in full".
At a certain point you man up and say "hey this is what I did, Im sorry, I made a mistake, it will never happen again".
The MLB, Selig and others have their own sins, that they must pay for
For me, the real crime here is athletes lying. And the poster a few posts back who suggested Barry was innocent. You really wanna pull that card? Barry;s guilty. There are some instances where yes, its not clear, if someone is guilty or not. This isnt the Wm3 or Mumia or Peltier. Bonds used steroids. His name is on the list. People have seen the list, leaked his name. And the list is of people who failed their drug tests. So, its not like I am suggesting he is from mars and is an alien. And lets be honest, are you really willing to debate that he didnt do steroids?

Oh, I totally think he did it. However:
a) When he was playing, was he ever caught (using a legal test that wasn't one supposed to be kept secret) cheating?
Of course not! He was never suspended at the time of his playing, and never was caught! How can we pick and choose who we punish for their actions if the protocol was not in place during their playing years? I don't like Bonds, but I simply don't think we can punish him for this.

Another day passed without a formal explanation from Ortiz, who was identified last week as having failed a test for performance-enhancing substances in 2003. Francona preached patience with regard to the matter and one source said that part of the reason for the delay involves the necessary paperwork and court proceedings in order for Ortiz to gain testing information that currently sits in the hands of the federal government.
"We need to stay patient and wait and that’s a hard ... we need to wait," Francona said, breaking off the thought. "I’ve talked to a lot of people and we need to wait. I don’t know if that's fun for anybody, but that’s what we need to do."
Francona stressed that Ortiz was not the one holding up the process, supporting the notion that there are legal proceedings involved.
