Didnt see a thread for this yet...

are we gonna share entries after the deadline passes in... 2 days?

would love to see what everyone came up with... not crazy about mine but im glad i finally sat down and did something... hasnt been nearly as much talk about this one as there was about the poster design thing so maybe my chances are ok? :?

anyway... post em here after the deadline!

i was wondering if anyone was ever going to make a painting thread ...

i sent 3 paintings in - just waiting till after the deadline (after the tee contest shit that happened to me  ) then ill post a link up.

i love seeing everyone's designs for these contests - its amazing how fantastic the entries are, i'd hate to have to judge them

I was hoping to complete 3 paintings, a little trilogy of my own design. But I only got to finish the first 2.
So here are my interpretations of Hard to Imagine, and Breakerfall. (Severed Hand would have been the 3rd but its only about 60% done and the deadline has passed.)

    great stuff! keep em coming!

i think ill post a link over on the porch to draw more attention

theres gotta be alot more entries out there... then again, i think 2/3 of the poster winners never even shared their designs here... so i cant imagine some of the talent we'll never even see

    Wow, nice job everyone!

Even monkeywrench can paint better than I! :P

I wish my mother would have done hers...but there has been so much chaos in her life and her business...that she couldn't squeeze in her schedule for the painting contest. :(

Looking forward to seeing more up!

  • Here was my entry for Indifference..I normally do charcoals and photorealistic so this is quite a bit out of comfort zone..

  • wow, there really isn't much talk on this contest...maybe I'll actually have a chance this time.
    I doubt it...but one can hope :|

Yeah there's not too many people showing their paintings, i sent 3 but i don't want to be as dissapointed as last time, so i'll wait for the results and maybe at the end i'll post mine :P

Here's my painting.. that I didn't send -- hey, you can't force inspiration! My artistic whims don't like deadlines.. lol...
Painted while listening through Binaural. ;)
Thought I'd share it with you guys anyways.. even though it's not in the contest.

...mostly influenced by the song: Insignificance.

:) it isn't completely dry yet.. as I just finished painting it. It's pretty abstract..

It really feels very binaural, very earthy, very warm. Beautiful

  • I wonder if they are too tied up with the tour stuff to do anything with the contest right now..I had actually completely forgotten about it till today when someone told me mine made them think of King Crimson LoL...now I'm happy, what an awesome compliment!

they always take ages to announce anything ... we'll prob read it in the next issue of deep

(or, perhaps they are bringing the prize with them to australia in november to save on shipping ;) )

Usually the winners are announced in the next Deep issue. (So I guess that means winter/spring.)

Really suprised by the lack of enteries this time, or just the lack of those willing to share their work.
Oh well, all the better for those of us that did participate.

LoL...I'm a little more doubtful..I actually sent another box inside with the painting, with postage paid on it, and a little note saying I know they don't do this, but if I don't win and they don't think they'd ever use it for anything, please please send it back, lmao...oy :|
  • arqarq Posts: 8,033
I should've done the same, it was the first time I grabbed a brush and I like those 3 shitty paints I made, now they'll end in a box in a very dark basement if I'm lucky if not they may end in a large thash can :( , but what the heck I knew the rules and I can't complain now, at least discover a new hobby

    thanks all!

wish i could tell ya about the prize... called the 10C and they told me to "hang tight"... literally gave me no clues about what kind of guitar or a time frame... so god knows when I'll actually hear back about it... the wait is KILLING ME!

definitely gonna frame it though... I'm a pretty good carpenter so I'll make a custom shadow box... thinking of using some stickers and fliers for a backdrop... it'll be the centerpiece of my future office/memorabilia room

anyone here ever win one of these contests before? how long does it usually take?

And spiffs to the other paintings featured in this thread. I can't paint even a stick man, so they are all beautiful.

    Still pinching yourself, I bet...!

Thanks for the bump, BhagavadGita! Happy Sunday...

All of the the paintings are fantastic. Out of my realm of artistic ability but I just want to comment on the entry that appealed to me most at the time. The Josh Yamamoto painting.
