New Show Closers...

Lets get some new ideas for closers....Yellow Ledbetter and RITFW are great choices, but they have been used far too often IMO. I'm also NOT a fan of a sloowwww closer like Indifference (even though I love the song)


Inspiration for this thread came from listening to the Easy Troy 2003 show and Breath came on...this would be my choice to try out for a new closer. Mike's solo at the end of the song could easily be drawn out and they could make a really great extended version of this tune. Since they just did a remix of Ten, what better way to follow up?

    I like the YL and RITFW closers, not so exciting on a bootleg, but great when your at the show. Really don't agree with the indifference closer, because it doesnt suit having the houselights on. should have a really dimly lit arena for that tune ;)

    Hard Sun is a nice idea.

    However, I'd prefer a PJ original. A nice acoustic version of Garden, maybe.

    Honestly I really like the idea of opening a show with Yellow Ledbetter. I think it would blow peoples minds... If that happened I'd love to see a show end with porch or RMV!!! Just my two cents! :mrgreen:

    playing the real me(again) that would make my day, week, month, year. just to know it wasn't a 1 off thing

    heck i don't even need to be in the audience when it goes down...just the possibility of it happening again will keep me going...i remember hearing/reading about it when they first played love reign(copenhagen?) and thinking "OMG! IT IS POSSIBLE !!"

    then i witnessed msg 08 nite 1 1st encore song...and that is something i will never ever forget :)
    and im truly grateful for that moment of time

    i love this band so much. sure its cool to do baba...but to do 2 quad tunes. OMG OMG OMG

    I like the idea of "All those yestertays".

    But I was thinking more of "Corduroy" or "Habit" with the end of the song... NEVER ENDING, with an extended jam until they fall to the ground!!! That would be good for a change. No?!

    Thing is... people will stand around and wait for them to play YL to close the show... for me, I'm not a huge huge fan of YL... but it doesn't feel like the show is complete unless it's played.

    Leaving Here would be good with the lights up and everybody dancin and singing along same with Undone
    but they might not be crowd favorites
    But i like the Smile idea- its a good old song most everybody likes
    I like Push Me Pull Me too that would be cool

    The Real Me is awesome.....but Ed's vocals might be worn out by then....Id rahter see this as the first encore.

    Alive is really the best closer.

    But, if Rockin in the Free World, Baba, YL, and Alive are out....

    I would like to see them end it with Porch, Parting Ways, Immortality....For their closers, they usually go with something well known, so who knows.

    I think a really powerful version of Jeremy would be cool. They play that less and less....

    Hmmm....I keep coming back to Alive. They probably wouldnt close with something from the new albums, or even the most recent albums.

    even flow - imagine going a whole show thinking you have finally been to a show where you havent heard it and then to close the show they bust out into even flow

    I'm partial to the idea of seeing Inside Job as the closer. This might be the only song that would rock as an opener AND a closer.

    Ending with Alive would be great as well

    Yellow Ledbetter is bittersweet because it's great, but you know the show is over. When they dont end with it, it's kinda of like "damn, thought there was more coming"

    Personally, I like Yellow Ledbetter as the closer. But, if I had to suggest another that's not a soft/slower song as you described, Rearviewmirror seems appropriate.
