i went to the june pj concert in columbia sc - and it was a non-smoking venue. I dislike smoke but tolerate it for certain events. Its an unavoidable problem for non-smokers - having to put up with other people's ash!

So there is Eddie puffing away on stage at the concert right? so its ok for him, of course they won't enforce the rule on the lead singer of pearl jam right? no never in a million years.
but that just gives everyone else the o.k. to fire up their cigs and start passing the grass - and then we pretty much have a small army of smokers puffing away, which is great if you don't mind the shit- but i do. So i'm stuck in a cloud of toxic fumes thanks to eddie - way to go my man! at first no one was smoking but, then once they saw ed - its like a tear gas attack!

so nice to know that once ed was seen doing it - everyone who smoked was firing em up. wish i could go somewhere and not leave smelling like a g-d ashtray! afterall it was a non-smoking venue, but turned into a smokehouse.

If you are worried about how your clothes smell after an evening out, may I suggest you go to the potpourri store and not a ROCK CONCERT.

Then you would have really hated the 70's concert scene if you think its bad now. Everyone had stoner seats and lots of contact, if you know what I mean. Then again maybe you would'nt have been as upset about it - j/k. I didn't think it was bad - at least not where we sat.

  • being a ex-smoker i can't stand smoke as much as the majority as most non-smokers. yeah it does suck when you get that one asshole smoker that thinks he gets the right to smoke and blows the smoke right it others' faces. my brother is that way. he will be looking right at you talking and blow smoke right in your face. but i know when i go out to a bar, or go to a fucking rock concert people are going to be smoking a lot. it's a fact of life you are gonna have to deal with it.

although at a regina spektor concert at the rave earlier this year there were signs up all over the place that stating the artist has requested that this is a smoke free show. when she came on stage there were people smoking. she made a point to mention right away that if the smoke starts to bug her she will leave. but that was at the tiny rave in milwaukee and not an arena.
My whole life looked like a picture of a sunny day.

Every concert I've ever been to PJ and others has always had people smokin "the pot." Non-smokers just gotta deal with it, luckily im not one of those people haha.

I used to smoke. I quit cold turkey after the PJ show in Vienna in 2006.
I have saved about $3,300.00 so far from not smoking.

It is extremely hard to stop since nicotine is very addictive.

Other people smoking doesn't bother me because I'm used to the smell.
I do expect people to smoke at concerts but I can see how it can irritate some people.

Ah, I said nothing about rights.

I am focusing on the people with unrealistic expectations of going to a show. You can't honestly expect no one to light up at a show. And I'm not one of them, but I expect it. As do 99.8% of us going to shows.

I expect it to. I wish it didn't happen, and I wish that if it does more people were respectful about it though. I mean, you never see a smoker holding the cigarette so that the smoke blows in their own face do you? They don't like it, so why do it to others? If you must smoke, please be respectful of those around you that do not wish to smoke.

    I don't smoke...

but I have complete confidence that something besides 2nd hand smoke is going to kill me... like standing in front of a microwave or talking on a cell phone... or staring at a computer monitor for hours at a time

People go to concerts to have a good time. Let people unwind and have a good time. Life is too short to waste it bitching about small aggravations... just try to enjoy the experience of seeing the best live band in the world.

    That's what I do...
