I've got a poster I'll donate, but never been down to SD before. Any way of making the location easy to find? :ugeek:

There are a ton of places close to the venue as it's by a college. You won't have any problem. :)

Sorry if this is a little off topic, however Im from Tucson and will be going to this show with a friend of mine. I was wondering if anyone is planning on partying before the show, maybe at a good bar close to the venue? Would be cool to meet some of you and hang out before the show. I lived in San Diego for about 3 months but it was some time ago, I dont know what places are cool around that venue so anyone wanting to party before time let me know maybe we can get a group together would be a lot of fun. Sounds like that may be what the original post is about, however Im not really sure this sounds more like a fundraiser than a preparty. Anyway just let me know, thanks!

In 2006 it was at Shamrock's Shack... though, from what I've been reading online, it possibly could have gone down hill a bit - not sure.... you would think there would be more of a selection near the campus...

Anyway, closer the better.... I have one person doing recon, but more the better....

  • I grew up in North County SD. Unfortunately, I don't know any GOOD place within walking distance of the show. San Diego Brewing Company is a 4 mile drive away so that is a possibility? My friend still lives down there and is the brewmaster for Pizza Port Brewing Co.- He is working on some ideas and may want to be a possible beer sponsor! I will keep you up to date on what I find out for ideas.

    not true...

Mcgreggors in Mission Valley is on the trolley line that will drop you off in the middle of campus. Big bar with food and good beer. Trust me

That might be the route... really not much around campus (go figure)... Shamrock's Shack was cool back in 2006 (only like a mile a way), but I'm getting mixed reviews about the place recently....

I second the McGreggor's suggestion. Big, laid back place, on the trolley route and about as close as you'll get to the campus.

Also, there's a mexican grill... On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina: Mission Valley‎
And it's close to Mission Valley Center trolley station.

The trolley usually runs later than usual on special day events...

    Looks like your from TJ....

Would you really go to a chain restaurant for Mex food in a city like San Diego? :)

Keep it local, bars in chain restaurants are no bueno.

The trolley will run until 1am, so no problem leaving the show. Mission Valley has a lot of motels but if you plan on using the trolley be careful where you end up or you'll be pretty far from a station. Downtown will be a bit more pricy but much better transportation and entertainment options.

Yes, I've been to this grill before, but nothing compared with TJ tacos (and 1dlls corona beer). I'll probably get my burritos and tacos up there for the pre-party :)

Aww man...I wish I could still head into TJ for the day and get some cheap beers and food without having to fear the violence.
