Theres a pair of tickets on ebay for £765. Thats f*ckin insane!!! And the fella selling them has the cheek to put in firstly that there face value is £40 each and then he also, as the picture for the item, has BEST BUY in big capital letters. Best buy me eye! Its not right that this kinda thing is going on! Is it not illegal to tout tickets?? You always see people getting pulled on it outside sporting events by the cops! This guy is actually advertising hes a tout by telling the face value and then his "best buy" offer of £765! Its cracked!!!!!!

I'm looking into all of this Beach_bum (great name!) and I will post any findings on here as soon as I possibly can!

I've counted around 15 pairs on ebay, and as I type there are 13 pairs on viagogo.com and 26 tickets on seatwave.com.

That's 82 (about 5% of capacity) minimum being touted, not to mention those that will be touted outside the venue.

It's a pretty shit situation, and it looks as if this is where the market is headed.

    See Trent Reznor's excellent write-up here: http://forum.nin.com/bb/read.php?59,548515
or BBC article suggesting prices should be raised(!) to stop touting: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6477325.stm
And I just found this article that states a figure of 5% as well. Hmmm...: http://www.app.com/article/20090629/OPINION01/906300317/1029/OPINION/Tsk++tsk+on+tickets

Brill thanks PDH I am going to use all of this in my campaign / search for help. I will continue to keep you all updated but at some point I hope to start up a petition - I'll do this once I have been given the contact name I have been waiting for!

Good luck with that. ALL gig tickets have the blurb on the back saying "void if resold" (or words to that affect), but somehow it's OK to resell them on eBay. I think they've got some loop-holes such as listing the face-value costs, etc.

Phew! I have to say that must be the worst slap for peeps - to have you card charged but then told no, sorry no tickets. I'm sure legally they have to provide the tickets then or something? Maybe not but they darn well should!!

Is it possible to buy tickets for UK gigs on Ticketweb if you live in the US? I tried to get tickets for a RATM gig in Australia before i went over for a few months but i couldn't because i wasn't an Australian resident.

    I mailed 10c.
I'm sure you'll have a ton of mails like this

And I'm sure there's nothing you can do about it

But I'm hugely disappointed about this gig.

Firstly, I hated having to sign up for a HMV presale, but I did - no luck in tickets.

Secondly I hoped my 10c membership might get me a ticket in the lottery, but no. In fact it seems very few people managed to get tickets this way. I don't know if you read the forums but it does make us wonder what the point of being a 10c member is when so few are able to get tickets by supporting the band we love so much

Finally, you said that the general sale would begin at 9 this morning and there would be tickets at hmv. com. There weren't. HMV put nothing up for sale. Furthermore HMV claims to have sent out a second email for a further presale to those of us who didn't get tickets but I never got this chance.

SBE is a very special venue and everytime I've been there I've fantasised about PJ playing there. Now it's happened and I can go - and yet people outside 10c can't go whilst tickets go up on eBay for hugely inflated prices.

Is there nothing you could've done to make this better ?

    Fairer ?

Would a 10c only gig be THAT hard to arrange ?

Could 10c make tickets available for ALL 10c members who wanted them and then put the rest out to HMV / General sale ?

Or is it - as I fear - that your new marketing partnerships are more important to you than the (here goes that cliche) 'real fans' who have been with you for years ?

  • OK folks first bit of info I have had back, I will copy this to both boards and then again once I have started an official thread (sorry - trying to do this between working :-)

I have heard back from a very trusted friend who has been in the industry for a long, long time. And by trusted I also mean that I know they wouldn't bullshit me when I ask them anything. I explained to my friend what had happened to all of us, I was told the following things:-

    1) Pearl Jam tickets have basically been like gold dust even to those in the industry. There have been NO industry tickets given out as freebies for either the 02 or Shepherds Bush. There are no industry guest lists for these shows either, as far as my friend knows. Industry workers have had to buy tickets themselves, the same as all the regular people.

    2) Touts should not have got hold of tickets before any exclusive pre-sales. If there is evidence to support this then there are people who can be contacted to complain to.

    3) We should have proper grounds for complaint to HMV and Ticketweb for those who did not receive second mails, whose links did not work, the basket of tickets debacle and especially for those who were charged for tickets but who have not been guaranteed them.

    4) It is considered awful that the 10c did not get more tickets and the suggestion is that we, as a group, compose a letter to the band's management.

    5) Whist ticket touting on ebay is not really OK, there are so many people doing it that the industry does not care / lets it slide

I have been given a contact web for a particular association who look after agencies. I will consider the best thing to write to them and then I will put it up here for everyone to add to or make suggestions. I might also need a bit more info from folks before I can complete it, so I will try to do this within the next few days :)

the thing that really gets me is that if you have tickets in your basket how can they then sell out ? i mean, if i go to Sainsburys and put two cans of beer in it and go to the checkout they don't say "sorry, we've sold out of beer" do they... ? harrrrumph... :x :?:

surely it doesn't take much work to have N tickets for sale and when someone puts 2 in their basket the system says ah-ha! now there are N-2 tickets left, does it ?
Oh yeah? Well, I've had about enough of morons and halfwits, dolts, dunces, dullards and dumbbells - and you chowderhead yokel, you blithering hayseed, you - you've had enough of me?

I sent TW a screengrab of my visa account showing the purchase approval for the tickets. the guy I spoke to says that it should be a nonissue if the money came out, but now that they have the transaction code and reference number they can look for it. so hopefully tickets will come from this. I'd obviously rather the m than the money. Fingers crossed.

Sorry, I have to say that point one is completely incorrect. I was at a wedding this weekend just gone and met a woman there, and we really clicked. She works for Universal music doing the special re-issues on vinyl, so naturally enough we got chatting about music we like and Pearl Jam came up. I said I was looking forward to seeing them in August as I'd missed the 2007 show due to it being the day I flew off to start my travels, she said she was going as well as she had got some tickets through work, and we're now meeting up.

The SBE show is totally different though, I texted her to see if she could get hold of any and she said she'd tried every way she could think of, but there are just none about

jrd you hit the nail on the head there with the sainsburys analogy! I rang ticketweb earlier to complain about this and the reason I was given was that while the tickets may have been in my shopping cart somebody else may also have had THE SAME TICKETS in their shopping cart and put their payment details through before me! That makes no sense to me! I mean as you said its surely a simple matter of stock control- as people add two tickets to their shopping cart take 2 off the amount available and if that person doesn't put their payment through in the 15mins allocated- (which is also bullshit as I did this and when I pressed confirm order it told me there were no tickets left!)- then add the two tickets back to the number thats available. Its really not rocket science! :x :x :x

The only thing that stopped me putting my fist through the monitor this morning was that I kept reminding myself that I was lucky to get tickets for the Astoria in 06. If I had been unlucky back then and gone through all this shit over the last few days, I seriously think I would have snapped.

We all need to now look forward to the o2 show, make sure we all enjoy it.

Hmm, thanks for letting me know. I've worked for Umusic in the past and have another friend there still so I will investigate. I agree with you about SBE as it is small but it would seem odd to me about O2 as it's huge. BUT - having worked in A&R for many a year myself in the old days, what I can tell you is that when tickets come out they don't go to all companies - tickets only get offered, and a certain amount at that, to staff at the record company or publisher of the band. Often, record company folks will give their tickets to mates at other record companies and swop, and so forth as everyone knows everyone else. Also, people will call the managers / booking agents and blag tickets. In this instance I can't really comment as my friend worked for SOny for many many years and has always been very trustworthy. It may be that HE was told there were no tickets but only a select few went out. There are head honchos at these places who can ALWAYS get a ticket when needs be! :)
