West Coast shows will be better....

With Ben Harper and the R7 opening they will be the best overall shows hands down.

PJ will not find a better band to open on the east coast.

Actually the only way the Philadelphia shows will come close would be Kings of Leon as the opening band.

They might play longer at the Spectrum, but the overall concert experience will be the west coast shows.

Ben's new band is the REAL DEAL, I was lucky enough to catch him at the 9:30 club about 50 feet from the stage.

Actually Ben might put on a better show than PJ.

Its usually the less hyped shows, the Atlantas, Buffalos, State Colleges, Philly 05, Hartfords, that get the awesome shows. Last year everyone was counting on MSG to be a religeous experience and it seems to me like it was very average.

The venue in LA looks awesome- so intimate that alone will make it better in my book
wish I could have charged up the cards again for a trip out west- I do love LA-

It's apparent you have never listen to or experienced Ben live.

His vocal range is far superior to Eddie's.

Then add in the fact he can play every instrument on stage, Ben is without a doubt the greater talent.

With that said I love PJ as much as anyone here. Ed is clearly the better writer and I agree more with his view of life and a lack of a God.

But don't discount Ben on his singing of a song that isn't even his.

Plus if he was butchering the song do you really think Ed would call him to the stage?

I like Ben Harper. I think he's a solid musician. I've seen him in concert with the Innocent Criminals, and thought they were pretty good. While I like R7's sound much better, it's not as though he's a "totally different artist". If we get him on the east coast, I'll be happy. If we don't get him on the east coast, I'll still be happy. Either way - people measure talent too linearly. There's so much that that one needs to consider when gauging talent in my opinion.

Opening bands suck; this is great news for a much better experience. Even the so-called great Liam Finn didn't help Eddie's shows.

What would give you that idea??? I mean it was only billed here as a mea culpa to the fans for the clusterfuck that the Borgata onsale was... :D But it did live up to that hype and then some.

While the gorge 05 show was an evening with pearl jam and pearl jam did an acoustic preset. The gorge 06 shows had no opener, and everyone was expecting them to do the same thing, but they didn't. They just played standard length sets? So no guarantee of super long shows in philly?

One positive I see about Ben Harper opening is I might finally get to hear indifference played live, the only drawback is that I'll have to hear ben harper mangling half the song :)

Going to 2 LA shows and 1 SD..... with the hopes of going to the other two LA shows..... soooooo

I have just been inspired to purchase Ben Harper's new album.

Already enjoy him casually, and heard this album is pretty good.

Now with or without BH, these West Coast shows will rock. Tiny venue with awesome acoustics and hopefully we will get a wide variety of songs and not too many repeats throughout.

Well, if you attend a show to see the opening band, then you may be right. I've listened to East Coast and West Coast bootlegs, and I attended a PJ Philly show (oooooohlala Philly 05!) The san diego 06 shows basically *started* around the encores (according to how they were recorded.) The Philly show started the moment the first song started. I'm sure all shows will be incredible, and congratulations to those that are able to see them this year. However, if you ever attend a Philly show . . . .prepare for musical bounty from the heavens!
