I'm willing to bet a sealed Benny vinyl that the Phish shows happen.

I'll take that bet, do you want me to pay the shipping & handling charges?

Did anyone get pre-sale tix from the fan club for this show? Can only find the LA ones; did I miss it?

I don't think this family values theme is as predominant as you guys make it sound. Why would they do ALL THREE shows during the week? It'll be Saturday.

And would Ed have played the Tower on his daughter's bday last month if he wanted to be home for Halloween? I think bdays are slightly more important than Halloween.

Exactly. And it's not like their job is a pain the ass like the rest of us. Having your family on the side of the stage while 15,000 people in costumes jump around like a bunch of nuts? Yeah, I think that's a little better time than going door to door for candy.

Who cares who's the last to play there?

It's not that big a deal, I guess, but will add a special quality to that last show, no?
It is a big deal to locals, come on...The SPECTRUM has been a staple to Philly...Great sound, GREAT History- Flyers, Sixers, quite a few Championships were won there, and MANY kick-ass concerts over the years- Who hasn't played there???...We will have a KILLER tailgate party there, too. Every Rock radio staion in the City will be ALL OVER THIS. If it is THE LAST concert at the Spectrum, it will be built up BIG TIME locally. Especially when tix are sold out...

Alright I'll take that bet. I am not offering a Benny vinyl but if you are that convinced then you won't mind wagering it against nothing.

Oh I know. I meant it would be special even for out-of-towners, as the band and crowd will be in rare form.

This is from the Wachovia Center/Spectrum site:

Pearl Jam To Be Last Band to Perform at the Spectrum; Springsteen to Help Close the Spectrum

Pearl Jam, one of the biggest bands in the world, will be the last band to ever perform at the Spectrum when they perform their only east coast appearances at the soon-to-close arena on Wednesday, October 28 and Friday, October 30. Comcast-Spectacor and Live Nation are celebrating the final months of the Spectrum with a series of final farewell concerts to say “goodbye” to America's Showplace, the Spectrum.

Additionally, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, one of the most popular acts to ever perform at the Spectrum, will return to perform two more shows there before the building closes on Tuesday, October 13 and Wednesday, October 14.

“It’s really great to play a place with so much history and so much integration of culture,” said Pearl Jam lead singer Eddie Vedder when the band last performed at the Spectrum (April 28, 2003). “To be able to play the Spectrum is very memorable for us.”

Additional concerts will be announced in the coming weeks, leading up to Pearl Jam’s last shows.

Pearl Jam tickets will go on sale exclusively through ComcastTIX on Friday, July 17 at 10 a.m. at ComcastTIX.com, by calling 1-800-298-4200, in person at the Wachovia Complex Box Office or select Acme Markets. Tickets are also on sale at LiveNation.com.

Bruce Springsteen tickets will go on sale on Monday, July 27.

well letterman does not tape on Friday
I think they tape two shows on Thursday, so PJ could be on two nights

Good info, but then PJ could/should have just done Tues/Wed in Philly.

    I'm betting on a 10/31 show.

10/28 is game 1 of the World Series. Thanks to the AL winning last night we wont have to worry about the possibilty of a game at Citizens Bank the same night as the first PJ show.

Take this for what it's worth but a buddy of mine just asked me if I wanted to get in a box that he has reserved for 10/31. He has a connection at the spectrum that said the third show will be announced...and gave him a shot to get a club box (side stage). I am giving him money this week to reserve my spot in the box...3rd show is gonna happen. It's the worst kept secret in Philly now that Pedro has signed.

As a concert venue, the Spectrum will not live to see Halloween. The Pearl Jam shows on October 28 and October 30 will be the Spectrums last.

i'm still not believing that.....hoping for halloween!

I think the writer just took the fact that PJ is the last band and wrote that thing about it being done before Halloween based on the set dates.

There's way too much rumor/info about a third show, in addition to the quirky scheduling of the first two, for it not to happen.

And/or I only think what I want to think...

Well Im just happy game 1 will be in the Bronx. After the 10/31 show you and I can run over to Citizens and try to sneak or talk our way in for the last few innings of the Yankees game 3 victory. ;)

the question is if there is no 3rd show on Halloween (which I think is not the case), how much will tickets to the last show at the Spectrum featuring Pearl Jam go for on the open market (StubHub, ticket brokers, etc)??? My guess is due to the overly excited and see the band at all costs fan base, these tickets will be hotter than the surface of the sun.... :D

It could get interesting, especially if "The Fixer" and then the album get a lot of run on 'MMR, as I expect.

But it's still almost 60,000 tickets...

How do you get 60,000??? I'm talking if there is no Halloween show and the last date is Oct 30th... would be about 40,000 at the most with a ton of people in the Philly area wanting to see the last performance at the Spectrum for purely sentimental reasons, especially with a band the caliber of PJ performing... could get interesting with the public onsale and ticket aftermarket.

My bad -- I misread you. Yeah, two shows would be big demand. The Foo Fighers sold the place out hard, for god's sake...

Might be closer to 30,000 for the two nights. If you look at twofeetthick, it says the attendance was only like 15,500 for the Spectrum show in 2003 because they didn't sell seats behind the stage.

Yeah it will be interesting on what they do and do not sell for this show. I saw Neil Young at the Spectrum and nothing behind the stage or anything in the 3rd level was sold. But for Springsteen they sold every inch of the damn place. I guess it would be up to PJ, so if there are no staging issues I see no reason for no seating behind the stage. And I don't see why they wouldn't sell anything in the 3rd level either way.
