If the Celtics can snag Grant Hill I'll give them the edge over the Lakers in the Finals next year.
Not a Rasheed fan, but he's a proven winner. Nobody will be able to score within 15 feet of the basket with him and KG.
Lakers and Spurs will be a doozy in the western finals.
Lakers and Spurs should be more competitive but if the Lakers re-sign Odom I still see L.A. taking the Spurs. McDyess being their only inside presence v. Pau, Drew, and Odom??? Artest and Kobe v. Ginobli and Jefferson. Good matchup there but edge to the Lakers inside.

Nooooooo. Where on earth did you hear that. Guy is still in his early 30's
um....I'm still diggin' Rasheed going to Boston ;-) (a little thread integrity here)
Good call, I think it did get a little side-tracked.
Sheed is a great pickup for the Celts. In the back of my mind I was kinda hoping the Lakers would let Lamar walk and grab Sheed. Can you imagine a team fielding Kobe, Sheed, and Ron Ron??? Like I said last year on one beats the Celtics in the east other than the Celtics. (with injuries). And I was right. I think the same holds true for this year. Same with the Lakers. If everyone stays healthy the re-match should be on.
Yeah I agree, and it'll be a damn good re-match. Two teams with some experienced and talented players.
Thinking about the Celtics. If they lose Big Baby, as they probably are, and are losing Marbury and maybe Powe are they really a better team? Im not so sure. The bench would be just as thin. Sheed of course is an upgrade from baby. But he is a short term fix. The Celtics become a must win now team. For that matter so are the Lakers now. Both teams are way way over the cap with the Lakers possibly going massively over the cap if they sign Lamar. Both of these squads are going to be playing with a massive sense of urgency IMHO. Especially Boston. I think they have one last shot at this. Allen is a free agent next year and Wallace would be 35 with much of their bench gone. The Lakers are a must win because their roster will be way too expensive to keep intact unless they don't sign Odom in which case we may not make it back in June. Dallas and San Antonio I think could sink us w/o Odom.

Losing Marbury wouldn't be too hurtful I think, the guy showed up late in the season, and made an unnoticed contribution to the playoffs. He didn't get a lot of court time, and his playing was nothing to rant and rave about. Losing Big Baby, and Powe may put Boston back...but, there is no way to truly tell how they'd play without them until that in fact does happen.
I want the season to begin now
7/2/06 - Denver, CO
6/12/08 - Tampa, FL
8/23/09 - Chicago, IL
9/28/09 - Salt Lake City, UT (11 years too long!!!)
9/03/11 - East Troy, WI - PJ20 - Night 1
9/04/11 - East Troy, WI - PJ20 - Night 2

Clearly losing Marbury isn't going to kill you. It just thins out the bench even more. So your looking at a bench of what, Sheed, Mikki Moore, Eddie House and Scalbrine?? That's not makin me shake in my boots. Boston will bring an amazing first 6 players but past that things get real murky. So again if Boston has another key injury to one of the old guys you still have problems. What if this year the injury is to Ray Allen? Who gets his minutes? House? Im just sayin. It's a good team. I still pick them over Cleveland for sure and probably Orlando. But they got one year go get a ring. And I agree Im bored to shit without hoops. Fucking baseball season.

Losing Powe and BB would make a more negative impact, I think, than Marbury (and his ugly shoes!). Marbury is just ok to me, but Powe--love him! and, he's still young and has a lot more potential, esp with the Celtics.

completely off topic, but it would be the best thing ever if LA got a team soon...I'd flip! in the meantime, thank GOD for the NFL package on directTV :-)

Would be nice, but it ain't happenin any time soon. Im over football unless UCLA puts a good squad together which happens about as often as Hayles Comet.

Totally agree with both of you. I'd much rather see Marbury go than BB and Powe...because the godo point has been made that besides Sheed, KG, Allen, Pierce, Rondo...the bench gets a little scary. Eddie House is a hell of a player though, I feel comfortable when he's on the floor.
God damnit...we have to stop talking about the wants of sport seasons to begin, I'm dying over here!!

LOL! HOUUUSEEEEE--How the heck did I forget about him?? (I must be worried about concert tickets or something...) He's pretty solid off the bench, or at least I feel like he hits some clutch 3's.
(and DC, you're right...even thinking about football (and basketball) season is killing me, let alone talking about it. ugh...i'm not even going to get started!)

Ok Hermosa Beach Girl. You better be from Boston or somewhere there between to be talking about Eddie House longingly. Youre in Laker country darlin. All that being said I hear baseball is a sport. I have always found it to be more of a leisure activity. Surely no sport can allow 44 year old fat men to pitch and make millions, no? Hell if that were the case sign me the fuck up.......So yeah. I need real man sports to begin. But forgive me if I suddenly go baseball if the Los Dodgers or El Angels are in the fall classic. Ill be there and especially obnoxious if the Red Sox are in any way involved......Feel me?

I'm a displaced South Jersey girl!! but i'm a little lost in Laker country ;-)
I've heard of that Baseball sport too....no play clocks, some scandal involving steroids, good highlights on Sportscenter though! I'll forgive you if you suddenly go baseball--playoffs/finals of any sport are fun...I'll even watch the World Series. (I'm not a Sox fan, by the way!)
