I'm thinking about rules for code of conduct at the Eddie shows.I have read a lot of stuff on boards lately and wondered if this came up yet. I remember last year all the yellin out "Eddie" and the 300 pound idiot being dragged out by security. Do we need to have rules this go around? :?:
#1. Please don't drink SO much beer you have to pee every 10 minutes.
What difference does it make? You can't enforce them and the people most likely to violate them aren't going to read your lame message board rules anyway. What is this, a golf outing? Dress up, wear your sweater tied around your neck, and you may only clap politely when the message pit den mother holds up the ok sign... not a peep otherwise?
God this band's fans have become lame. The grunge bandwagoners of yesterday are now the upper class yuppies of today.
time tells us this is true, but u cant act like u didnt see it coming, i guess its because we are the ones with the brains,
Yeah, maybe they ought to segregate the shows. Two nights at each venue... night one can be all the upper crust people sipping martinis and discussing their stock portfolios and how smart they are before the band comes on, night two can be for all those dirty, drunken, uncouth peasants, who are obviously mentally inferior.

Ohh...kind of like when Jack and Rose ate dinner with the upper class and then tore it up after dinner with the po folk in Titanic.

golly gee guys I didn't mean to start such a ruckus! Peace brother! Have fun at the shows.
Having been to 5 of his solo shows I can definitely say that if you have fun, laugh, sing when asked, applaud like hell, and give Ed his due respect THE SHOW ED GIVES YOU WILL BE MUCH BETTER. These are intimate venues and Ed gets intimate with the audience on his own terms. If Ed has a clear head he will tell really great stories in between songs and get pretty personal about stuff which is a nice perspective for a fan to get. He will be funny, serious, and intense at times. If he has to contend with people feeling the need to hear themselves over everyone else, these privileges go away. He won't play your song no matter how many times you say it or how loud you say it. If he sees some dude kickin' it with Ramones shirt on in the 8th row he may feel compelled to throw down an acoustic "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker".
Either way, as stated previously, you won't stop the handful of "yellers" no matter what...you can only hope to contain them just enough to keep Ed in a good mood to tell you stories, play a killer song, or extend the show out longer for an extra treat. It's a crapshoot on what you get.

For the record...that "drunken hooligan/screaming idiot" from Newark was not drunk, nor an idiot...he patiently waited to ask his question like everybody else...and was even interupted twice before he even asked his great question. i will be with him at both tower shows and look forward to making the most out of a possible Q&A session again.

All this thread is missing (unless I missed it.. Too lazy to read thru every post) is the obligatory Jeff Tweedy youtube rant to the talkers in the crowd at one of his solo shows.. PBM, care to post the link for us? I would.. but again, too lazy.
original post in this thread made me think of "in the flesh" II from the wall...maybe its just me though, creating rules/wanting to create rules to make people not shout or want to limit how much someone drinks during a rock/acoutic/folk/or orchestra show seems pretty damned silly to me...
...i know you paid a lot to see ed solo and its a great experience, especially if people were quieter... we all paid a lot, so whether you wanna be sober and quiet, or blitz and loud well its your money...its rock and roll baby!
Well, tonight we will read fan views about another drunken 300 pound idiot who wouldn't shut up. Yes it's his right to yell all he wants, but I like to think we can show a little curtsey. I recall Ed getting pissed off at all the yelling.
Drink your ass off. I will. But,control yourself and your bodily fluids is all I'm saying!

What was the "Yellow Ledbetter" story from Newark?
thats how it was at NJPAC and it did not make a bit of a difference
just be quiet when he is playing or talking
as I did not pay to hear you
thank you very much
I agree, I got stuck sitting next to some loudmouth drunk at NJPAC who kept yelling "yeah eddie" and then for songs like spin the blck circle and given to fly. Whata a moron, It really took away from the show.

Ahh...that's the angry twenty-something Eddie.
Now, he a forty-something grumpy old man.

I mean come on people!
This is a rock concert!
When did you all become so authoritative and create so many rules?
If I want to piss on the seat next to me, you better enjoy it!

I've spent so many years in question
To find I'd known this all along.
Now you're getting it!
Just have fun, people are going to yell out, sometimes its funny, sometimes its not. Just if Ed tells you to shut up so he can talk, do it.
I feel ya playa. I feel ya.

So you will be an uppercrust attorney now?
Welcome to the upper class....please learn to behave as such!
Without Jeff and Stone he does only get to play his songs in places that smell like piss.
