Self-proclaimed Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other Guantanamo Bay detainees will be brought to trial in a civilian federal courthouse in New York, near the site of the devastating 2001 terror attacks. Prosecutors expect to seek the death penalty.

I hope he is not allowed to preach about that whole anti-American/fundamentalist Islamic religion crap in open court. But, im guessing... he will.
And instead of the Death Penalty... how about a 297,300 year sentence with no parole eligability at Pelican Bay, California in the Neo-Nazi psychos cell block... and rooming with the multiple murderer who partially ate some of his victims?
That would make Camp X-Ray, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba look like a stint at Club Med.

Btw what took so long this to be in court??

because our justice system is a piece of shit. I'm all for these animals dying the worst death possible after what they inflicted on the people of this country. but if the jury pusses out and decides to put them in prison... it's going to make me sick knowing that other peoples' money is going towards feeding these animals 3 meals a day and insuring they have some level of comfort in their cell. that is not justice. I believe just about anyone can adapt to any form of living over a certain amount of time. you learn to live without. but if they could simply be thrown into a cement cell with no windows, no light, no food, they could die the slow, painful death they deserve.

You make a prison life sentence seem like some sort of luxury or something.
I don't know... I think prison would be a nightmare. In my opinion.... 3 meals a day does not make the nightly ass raping any more pleasant.

    yup.
what a fucking media circus this is going to be.
Don't they often move high profile trials to other cities or states to avoid jury bias, victim exposure, and what essentially becomes a public lynch-mob atmosphere? I'm curious how NY'ers feel about having the trial in their own backyard.
  • KSM should not be tried in a federal court. HE should be tried in a military tribunal. This is a vey bad decision on the part of Obama and Holder. Not only that it Unconstitutional. wtf is this president thinking ? What's going to happen if he walks on a technicality ? :x :x :x

so he should be tried in a military court to guarantee conviction?

    why even have a trial?

Agreed about the tribunal. My fear is that because he was never read his Miranda rights, then he was water boarded, his confession would not be admissible. And that could possibly get him acquitted.

These guys wanted to plead guilty and be executed. I say we skip the trial and give them their wish.

It took so long because the Bush administration was content to let them sit in Gitmo until they died. This action may make sense to the politicians, but the only gain for America is that we have made Gitmo prisoners, martyrs. There has been no closure for the families?

Look at victims of war crimes, they wait decades, just for an opportunity to 'see justice served' - to have their day in court. For no other reason than to have the world hear their voice and what happen to them. Our military court is closed to the media and public, records become sealed and the families and people are left to wonder the reasoning. It won't make a difference if KSM is found guilty in a military court or if he is hanged. The gesture is empty, because the victims and survivors had no voice.

Just because this act took place in NY, it was an action against America, KSM was a planner, an accessory to the murders of thousands of people and should be accountable to the justice system which affords the citizens of this country to sit on a jury and determine their fate. If not, then turn him over to the Hague.

Of course, this trial may be too much for the citizens of NY to have to relive and it would be very understandable if the State wishes to have it moved. Whether it is held in NY or Montana, lets keep it in our judicial system so that the voices get heard, so that the verdict is the verdict of the people, not the military, not the politicians, not the media, but the PEOPLE.

Let it be the PEOPLE who decides KSM's fate as a criminal, not the military who will make him a martyr.
SIN EATERS--We take the moral excrement we find in this equation and we bury it down deep inside of us so that the rest of our case can stay pure. That is the job. We are morally indefensible and absolutely necessary.

  • I read somewhere that the Bush administration using the ilitary tribunal won three convictions in eight years. However, terror cases like these have a 100% conviction rate in the U.S.

I'm not thrilled with it taking place in New York, but at this point I'm just glad it's finally getting started. Personally I don't think he deserves a trial, but if this country didn't grant him that, in spite of his sick actions, then we would stoop to the level of some of these non-democratic countries.

Obviously you don't get it... They could all walk on a technicality such as their miranda rights never being read to them. Which would not happen in a M.T. And not to mention this is exactly what he wants. They will use this trial for nothing more than propaganda so that he can become a martyr and that will create more Jihadist. It will also bring the pain back to the families that lost loved ones on 911,but Im sure you and the rest of the lefties on here could care less about how the families feel. You're all more worried about the KSM's feelings or fox news.

Maybe during the course of the trial they can finally tell us what the link between 9-11 and Iraq was. Then the Iraqis can understand why 1 million of them had to die.
