    Graduated with an undergrad

Personally, I think I’ve become more progressive/less conservative since having a kid. Issues such as social inequality, homelessness, declining standard of living for successive generations and the opiate crisis mean more, now that I see how the unfolding world affects my own child.
Maybe it was true in the 70s 80s and 90s when the US conservatives were actually conservative you could become switch as you got older.

But now conservatives are controlled by religion, bigotry, not protecting the environment, crippling education and healthcare, controlled by the rich and corporations and the NRA. The list is too long.

So much of the conservative agenda is fucked I see more people becoming progressive as they get older rather than vice versa.

I still can't get over how "idealist" is being used like some kind of insult or flaw or state of irrationality, lol. Holy crap, I sure wouldn't want to see a world without them - I can't even imagine what kind of hell that would be.
I didn't use it as an insult. I tend to think of myself as pretty idealistic actually, and have been "accused" of this a few times here over the years. I just think that the more you learn about reality, the less idealistic you become. just my opinion based on my interpretation of the term.

For me, it’s been the more I learn, the more I’ve been able to see how my idealism fits into reality. Instead of just imagining it, you see how it can happen pragmatically.

I dont know if I classify as a frequent commenter or not (at least on amt), only really read through these threads mostly. And not often.

But polls are fun... one year of school left before I graduate. It can’t come fast enough.

And cool that you are commenting here.  We need some fresh voices here (as opposed to stale ones like mine, haha!)

I do read through these threads when I have the time. But I just can’t keep up with some threads lol. I dont check amt for two days and the Donald Trump thread has 300 new posts! When I get more free time I hope to become a more active participant in these discussions.

Once you become an adult like the rest of us and get a job there will be plenty of time to comment when you're at work....;)

Sarcasm if it's not clear (except for the comment about when you're at work, that's legit).
    It's a hopeless situation...

I've heard that more time than I can remember.  "Oh Brian, your so idealistic."  "Get a grip, you really think things could get better?"  "You want everything to be perfect."  "You're so unreal".

Yes, yes, yes and hell yes!
And I love me some Brianlux!
