Vintage, minus the Riot Act. More powerful vocals with a little less cheese on the lyrics.
That’s what I hope for. What I think we’re going to get is more of the sound they’ve kind of settled into over the past few albums. No change at drummer in 20 years combined with Eddie’s warbling, much less powerful voice, I think we’ll get a CD most of us will be happy with but not up to the standard we hold PJ at. We’ll get a couple very good songs and then stuff we won’t want to hear in 5 years.
6-29-98 Chicago, 10-9-00 Chicago, 4-23-03 Champaign, 6-18-03 Chicago, 7-1-03 Bristow, 10-1-04 Reading, 10-11-04 DC, 9-30-05 Atlantic City, 5-30-06 DC, 6-17-08 VA Beach, 8-17-08 DC (Ed), 6-15-09 Baltimore (Ed), 5-13-10 Bristow, 10-29-13 Charlottesville, 4-18-16 Hampton
I don't mind that tune but, if it were up to me (and it's not), I too think I'd like them to stay away from the "punk" tunes, as well as the "sappy" or "corny" ones. Even if I stay away from the (awesome) nineties tunes as a comparison, the band created a lot of interesting songs since then like...
Of the Girl Rival Parting Ways Insignificance Can't Keep Save You I Am Mine Ghost Severed Hand Inside Job Force of Nature Unthought Known (maybe a bit sappy/corny) Pendulum Getaway
In my mind, that's 14 really solid tunes that could act as a template for any new record.
I should’ve said “other” because I agree with “all of the above”. I just hope they push a little with some experimental stuff like Of The Earth. Show off all the musical talents of these fantastic musicians. And let mike loose!!
Having Stone more involved would be ideal I think. Although I like Lightning Bolt; judging from the song credits - he didn’t do a lot of writing. Have always loved his grooves, hopefully more of his stuff is on the next one.

...just for me, because no one else will vote for punk.
Nope I'm with you. I'm hoping it's angry.

Hey we’re being honest right?
