Just picked up a Soldier Field vinyl for $45 at local shop and wondering if that's a good price?
Cheers

seems about average for the bootleg version. The question is....

    what color is yours?

Mine was plain old black vinyl. I was in the record store the other day and saw a red one. How many people are bootlegging these things? :)

All these bootlegs are coming from Europe, pretty much from the UK.
Not sure how many colors there are.

I got a black one too. Someday will save up & pick up the original one.

How is this bootleg as far as sound quality?

I have the Melbourne show on vinyl and I think
it sounds good. Is it anything like that?

Let me know I'm thinking of buying on "Yellow" vinyl
Is there a difference other than color?
    Thanks everybody.

I had the red one and there was so much hissing it sounded like I had a snake in my player. got mine from some dude in Portugal who was selling a boat load of them.

the melbourne vinyl sound is incredible. 100x's better than the SF boot i had. But now I have the Soldier Field cd, so I'm good!

How much is the original version going for?

I seem to remember stumbling onto some website in the late 90s and ordering the original pressing, but I can't for the life of me recall which site it was. It's been in my collection ever since.

Again, just curious where today's market value stands for the original version, I have no desire to trade/sell.

    Much appreciated.

My collection is currently in storage but I'll examine the vinyl when I get the chance to verify that it is indeed the original green marbled version. I seem to recall holding the green marbled vinyl when I opened the vinyl.

Yes...I open all my vinyl. Just open.

A few years ago, I think it was 09, Vintage Vinyl in St. Louis was putting about 1 per month on ebay. The must have had 12-15 they sold. I had to bid but I ended up with the original straight from the source for about $315. I think they did a few after that but that was it. Glad I got one cause since the bootlegs flooded the market, you don't see any originals for sale anymore.

Necroposting... I found TWO in shrink-wrap in a local record store. The price was approx $40. I texted another guy who picked the other one up within an hour or so.

I have no idea if fake reproduction, originals, or what the color of the vinyl is. It does have the "V.V.000001" marking on the side.

The originals are on a mint green vinyl . The reproductions are on black or colored vinyl other than mint green . The test pressings of the original are black and rare and incredibly valuable .

The ones that are available right now are a unauthorized euro bootleg repressing . And there are a shitload of them .
no time this time to feign reluctance

Yeah, I have a feeling the people with the green ones absolutely know what they have and they're not willing to part with them for anything close to what they paid...sort of like Into The Wild, Benny, PJ20, etc.

Kinda hard to duplicate the pearly minty green vinyl . I have seen some soldier fields that are clearly attempts to duplicate the "wine " colored Benny .
    I bet they're next . Counterfeit Benny.
    It's sad . What's next ? Lost dogs ? That would be fatal .

I have an original toothpaste green one and sound wise - it is still sourced from an FM broadcast so it's a bit compressed and sounds as much. I don't believe it's worth the hype although I did pay $300 for my then-sealed copy from a 10c'er here a year or two ago. The sound was a bit of a let down but then, it is a true unauthorized "bootleg". And when considering that, it sounds damn good.

PS: Me no wants to sell/trade it :-*

I just found one of these and it's a kind of mint/teal color. Anybody come across that color? On discogs I can only find red, yellow or black.

As stated above this was the original color from the original pressing although they have tried to duplicate this color for knock offs too. The red, yellow, black are represses that are unauthorized.

    Wind this thing up.

There is a new teal bootleg out. Don't get it confused with the mint green original. The teal goes for about $60

I am always waiting for someone to just do this with the Benny. The demand would be crazy enough where tons of people would throw down $60 or so to grab a copy. I wonder why it hasn't been done.

Nice. The bootleg prices fluctuate a little, but $50 not bad.

I'm not sure. I have wondered that also. I'm sure that different pressing would have different sounds, but they are all sourced from the radio broadcasts....so not sure.

I was lucky enough to come across my original one on Ebay one day, the dude that pressed them for the record company had a truckload he was keeping for a rainy day when he needed money and according to him would put one up every once in a while. I scored a vinyl and cd version for about $350 us combined and he threw in spare vinyl and cd covers and concert posters that came with the vinyl unfolded. And even better I didn't have to cough up postage from the states as I had a friend who was luckily visiting the Dallas area at the time and picked it up for me.
