What's even more impressive is that those crowds will most likely be 95% new each night rather than a bunch of people doing multiples like with PJ.

The real question though? How long will their merch line be?

A sell out is a sell out though? What are we talking, a few dozen extra people configured on the floor or in an obstructed view? I'm sure whatever number of available seats that went on sale pj would have sold. Doesn't compute.

Red Sox ownership hasn't been exactly honest in the past about attendance records, too.

This is pretty much the only thing I know about the Zac Brown Band. From their Fenway run last year:

Zac Brown Band is the Pearl Jam of country music. Lots of dedicated faithful fans that travel to see them. Great musicians that give it all during the shows for the fans. I've not seen them live, but my brother has and said they put on one hell of a show.

Zac Brown Band is a hell of an act to see live. Fantastic musicianship, variation in their setlists, good covers (last time they were at Fenway they actually covered Porch and Hunger Strike), and have a big following. Do I think they'll have the lasting significance that Pearl Jam has had? I don't know; I think they're part of the country craze over the last few years that will lose popularity eventually. That being said, ZBB are the good guys when it comes to country music in that they actually write their own music (which country artists do not) and have a decent amount of talent.

There are TONS. Kenny Chesney is playing 2 nights at Gillette. The country concerts in this area have more arrests than any other musical genre. It is a fairly a new phenomenon I think. I don't remember hearing about any country concerts in this area 10 years ago. Maybe Zac Brown Band is different, but I swear every time I hear a country song every other word is about drinking beer and the fans lap it up (pun intended).

A sold out concert is a sold out concert though. How can one sell out at the same venue have more in attendance? Maybe the stage is smaller and they put in an extra row of seats? It can't be more than a few hundred extra people though.

Sold out, and attendance, are different things. They scan the tickets on the way in, that accounts for people actually coming through the doors. A show can be sold out, but still have secondary market tickets lingering on stubhub, eBay, Craigslist.

Paul McCartney had a couple thousand tickets on stubhub the day before his Fenway show, just as an example.

The foo fighters shows last year were sold out, but I had empty seats all around me.

ZBB definitely not the "Bro Country" set. Sure, they have some mainstream songs, but so does PJ. I'll say this, for PJ fans who hate bro country or even the stuff I rejected growing up in the 90s (Tim McGraw, Brooks and Dunn, etc.) as a PNW kid, living a couple of years in Texas and finding the world of independent/red dirt country was an eye opener. I seriously recommend people check out Hayes Carll or the Turnpike Troubadours (both very different from each other) for the antidote to the bros. Smart lyrics and better music have made me a fan of, dare I say, "real country" when I never would have thought I'd say that. Sturgill Simpson is another good choice, although more recent and still different than the first two.

Strangely, I picked up most of these listening to a great, small radio station in Dallas called KHYI "The Range". A station so fiercely opposed to the bros that they have radio spots openly mocking mainstream country radio.

I don't go in for modern country acts much at all (I'm more of a Waylon Jennings and George Jones guy) but my wife, who is a huge PJ fan, loves ZBB and Brad Paisley. I've heard the music when she listens to it. It's not terrible but it's not my bag either.

My sister-in-law lives in Nashville and she was the first person I ever heard use the term bro country. I found that description so amazingly apropos especially after seeing the video on YouTube where they overlay like 5 or 6 modern country hits on Pro Tools and every single one of them are the exact same. I couldn't even name these dudes but they all look the same in their designer jeans and backwards baseball caps singing songs about driving down the road in summer time with their special chicks going to a beer drinkin' party down by the swimmin' hole with all the rest of their bros on a Saturday night. Basically they're all just ex-frat boys from SE Central Tennessee St or some other directional school that are putting that mentality to a formulaic musical soundtrack.

They might not be "Bro Country", but I think they do well up here because of the "Bro Country" phenomenon. I could be wrong.
